Unfortunately the "New" chester diner fell quite short of their service and food. Went today(sunday) which I expected to be busy. Was not greeted, waited about 6 min which isn't bad for a Sunday, then sat with my family. One waitress came took our drinks, then another came asked our food then asked about what we wanted to drink. We said someone took our drink order as the 1st waitress came at that moment with drinks. She re asked what we wanted for food waited 20 min, I received a soggy tuna melt with cold waffle fries, my son had under cooked fries, mom had French toast and eggs over easy made well and husband has a grilled chicken strawberry salad that was ok. Overall never saw any waitress after the order and after they brought out food..asked 2 different people for the check since our waitress was gone and never even asked how anything was or if we needed anything. We were close to walking out on the awful service and not so good food. I hope they learn to create sections so all the waitress aren't running around angry at each other not knowing who is serving what where and who has what table. The cashier needs to greet customers and let people know we will be helped shortly and the whole staff including the kitchen needs to get it together and not crack under pressure. Also there were plenty of open tables. The one person I commend is the busser. He was on it friendly and seemed like the hardest worker. I'll be back in a month or two for redemption of this place. We will see if they sink again or float. All an honest review for some who is in hospitality and management ...
Read moreI am a disabled with a service dog. He is a wonderful dog and clearly wears a jacket showing he is an "Active Medical Service Dog". He is extremely well trained. When we came in and sat down the waitress asked for our dog's ID. We correctly told her that the ADA and New York State Law specifically says that no ID is required. She walked away and would not serve us. Then the manager came over and again asked for the ID. I tried to hand her the law but she refused to take it or even read it.
So, we called the Chester Police to help. They came and were excellent. They said they told the manager that they need to become familiar with the laws. We will be reporting this to the ADA and hopefully, action will be taken against them for their illegal actions. We did finally eat. The food was mediocre at best.
Then upon leaving we offered the manager the law again and again she refused to accept it. I asked her if she will now follow the law and she said she will do what the owner says. Well the owner does not make the laws. It is pretty clear, that they probably will continue to ignore the law and be hostile to disabled customers with service dogs.
When businesses restrict serving the disabled because they have a service dog, it is degrading to the disabled and show no respect to their customers or to the word of law.
I hope that everyone even if not disabled will take their unlawful conduct into consideration and go to other places to eat that have respect and consideration for the disabled and actually...
Read moreSooo, just wanted to grab something to eat real quick. Ordered breakfast food. One order was hash browns, 3 eggs, toast, French fries. 2nd order, Belgian waffles, sausage, small glass of milk. Shot glass size of milk.. Bill came… $40.00. I’m not cheap, I eat out enough and pay good prices. I was shocked. Seems like a lot for breakfast food. Waitress argued us DOWN after we express our concern over the price. Of course we were gonna pay, but WOW, and proceeded to give us a detailed ( she brought up another dinner on line near by) comparison of their prices and said her dinner was less expensive. She HAD to have skin in the game to be so protective of her establishment. Okayyy,.. I even left her a tip, for which she said “ that’s fine” instead of THANKYOU! She also blamed the prices on COVID. WOW AGAIN!!! So lesson learned. Never Again. I only get taken to the WELL ONCE! I’ll take the OLD Chester Dinner any day. Oh and there was 1 other couple in there at the time. That speaks volumes to how many people are patronizing this Dinner. Good Luck New Chester Dinner..word to the wise.. NEVER ARGUE WITH THE CUSTOMER and reconsider...
