My family have been loyal customers for years. The food is good, not "great", but good, and at nominal prices. Ironically, their pancakes are nothing to desire, they're just big in size, but not in taste. There are not too many options in this area, so that's the only reason why this place does so well, since there's no real competition in the immediate area. Considering that we've been loyal customers for years, we expect to be treated like valued customers. One time we had an incident with one of the waitresses, which was unprofessional on her end, and we complained about it and we decided not to tip her based on the poor service provided by that waitress. The next time we went, we unfortunately had the same waitress again, and she seemed to have been holding a "grudge" and she gave us such an attitude the whole time (again, unprofessional), but we were going to tip her anyway, despite her attitude. When we received the check, we noticed that she took the liberty to add a 15% tip to our bill. We thought that was odd because after coming here for so many years, we've never experienced that. So when I went to pay the tab & I looked at all the other checks that were near the register, and none of them had a tip added to it. So I questioned the guy on the register if applying the tip was a new policy, and he said, "well, you didn't tip the last time." WOW, really?? We've been loyal customers for years, we always tip at least 15-20%, and the one time we withheld gratuity for valid reasons, they now treat us differently? Firstly, gratuity is optional and at the discretion of the consumer. It's not even legal to add gratuity to a tab. There's ways "around" it to make it legal, but you would have to charge it as a "service fee." No one obviously goes to the extent as to ensue litigation for being charged gratuity, and that's why many restaurants get away with it, which is fine, but if you're going to implement it to one client, then you must implement it to every client. You don't single out 1 customer based on a prior experience that they've had with your unprofessional staff.
Long story short, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued to eat there, and another waitress added tip to our bill after gossiping with the other waitresses. I'm sorry, but this is not how you operate a business. Do this to a few more people and you'll see how fast the word will spread and your business will be affected negatively. Unfortunately for them, we've decided to take our business elsewhere. We've found 2 great diners, one is called the Stony Point Pancake Factory in Stony Point, and Orangetown Diner in Orangeburg, NY. Great food, great service, no forced gratuity, and professional staff! You guys at Pancakes Plus need to get your heads out of the clouds, go take some business etiquette crash courses, regroup & retrain your staff and learn how to operate a business with professionalism, morals, and learn to "value" your loyal customers....
Read moreVery unfortunate to have eaten hear alone. After bring seated at a "booth for two", which I did not request, I placed my order and received coffee. Then I was approached by the owner in a most excited, hostile manner, telling me that I never should have been seated at a booth. "That was a mistake. It could get very busy". It was 2 pm and there were several empty tables and booths and no crowd waiting. I asked if he wanted me to leave. No, I was told, but he hoped that I wasn't planning on having a "leisurely meal". He hoped that I would be quick and not "take my time". He kept on firing comments at me and did not relent. I almost spit out my coffee. He has no consideration for me as a patron. I was made to feel insignificant and unwanted. I actually felt bad for my server who kept apologizing although his employer did not.
I ate quickly and told the owner how I felt before leaving. He saw how upset I was and offered an empty apology with excuses. I said that I hoped he never had anyone speak to him that way or to make him feel small. I left wondering if he had a problem with single people dining, woman, or if he was just a jerk. Possibly all three? Still empty booths when I left. The pancakes just weren't that good or worth the...
Read moreI haven't been here in years but remember it being phenomenal- I moved back to the area and the lady and I woke up hungry and I wanted to show her a local spot she would love. We were not disappointed even after all these years! (5or so )
Anyone who knocks this place is super critical there's a reason it's almost 5 stars!!!!

And UNCONVENTIONAL servers? What were you hoping they would do perform a circus act lol ..Bravo pancakes plus !!!! My only recommendation to the management (as a fellow business owner) PUT THE MENU ONLINE!!! and consider a delivery option through Grubhub or Seamless and watch those profits...
