My daughter and I, both vegetarian, were pleasantly surprised with this little place. We were a bit disappointed at first, since their menu only offered one vegetarian Ramen, and most of their appetizers were also meat-centric. When I suggested ordering the only vegetarian starter - seaweed salad, my daughter was unconvinced - "it's usually just a tiny mouthful, and not worth the money." It wasn't a tiny mouthful after all: the seaweed salad came on a bed of chopped romaine lettuce, giving it quite a bulk, and tasted good! The romaine lettuce well cushioned the strong vinegary taste of the seaweed. We each ordered a bowl of their vegetarian Ramen (the one and only choice for us anyway), and became truly convinced that sometimes limited choice meant a higher quality :-). The broth was made with soy milk, miso and ground sesame seeds, just like how I would have cooked it at home, and tasted fresh and delicious. The noodles wore a healthy green color (spinach juice) and were smooth with a good bouncy bite. It was a substantial meal, with lots of goodies - Tofu, Menma (bamboo shoots), tree mushroom, and chunks of crunchy broccoli. After tasting the chilli sauce on the table, I decided that this place was run by Chinese - which was confirmed by our friendly waitress. I will definitely bring the Ramen loving carnivores of my family here to taste their...
Read moreI drove pretty far to come and try this place because I've always wanted a Ramen place in Rockland where I grew up. I was extremely disappointed to be honest. The food was okay I wouldn't say it was the most flavorful ramen I've ever had however my issue was the service. I was ignored for at least 20 minutes there was nobody at the front to greet you or seat you. You were told to sit wherever which was fine I'm okay with that but the fact that she ignored me for 20 minutes really bothered me then two more other people walked in and were also ignored. I also did not expect for one bowl of ramen and pork buns to take 35 minutes to come. After waiting 20 minutes to be served and then an additional 35 minutes my experience just kept getting worse. I don't mind my food taking a long time if it's something that's exquisite and truly authentic and also I'm kind of given the heads up that the ramen is probably going to take a good half an hour or so then that's fine but that just wasn't the experience. It wasn't higher quality ingredients or anything like that it was just your standard ramen. The esthetics of this place is also weird the design is tbh very ugly inside. It's not a place I would take people or probably try again I could have just stayed locally . It's a shame because I was so excited...
Read moreThis is a Japanese ramen restaurant located in a street mall. The reviews were quite good, so I visited for the first time after comparing it to several nearby Japanese ramen restaurants. The atmosphere was similar to a regular family restaurant, but overall it was clean and the interior had the atmosphere of a Japanese restaurant, but I was surprised that the soothing music was a chinese melody. It was a genre of relaxing healing music similar heard in Chinese massage shops.
For food, I ordered Takoyaki and Tantan Ramen. Since I don't like salty food, I asked for a recommendation for a menu that wouldn't be too salty, and I was told that any dish could be adjusted to suit my personal taste. The food came out not too late, and just as the waitress said, it wasn't too salty, the food was tasty, and the vegetables were fresh. The takoyaki was crispy on the outside, but the color of the fried food had a slightly old burnt oil color to it, but the seasoning was just right.
It was a restaurant with great reviews, so there were some disappointments, but I was appreciative and grateful for their sincerity in adjusting the seasoning to suit each...
