New York Style Pizza — Restaurant in Town of Colonie

I don't sweat the small stuff. One little mistake here or there, a long wait on a busy night is just no big deal. And I must add that I'm neither overly dramatic nor prone to exaggeration.

Which is why when I say that the food I ordered from NY Pizza in latham was the absolute worst takeout food I've ever had, I whole heartedly mean it. In fact, I can't recall experiencing anything more putrid and inedible from any restaurant ever.

I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta and the veggie lasagne and wasted $30 on this terrible decision. The scampi pasta was floating in a heavy, greasy mess. The "sauce" was pure oil with a hint of garlic and no lemon. It was heavy and flavorless, but that was it's best feature; as it was also topped (and for the life of me I do not know why, after all this is scampi pasta) with a heavy layer of strange and unrecognizable cheese. I can't tell whether this cheese was a cheddar, mozzarella blend or a really fake Parmesan but it was awful. I mean fowl. It smelled bad. And it was so thick and baked on that it imprisoned the spaghetti, grease and shrimp mixture beneath it.

I ate two forkfulls and started to feel ill from the grease, strange smell and weird texture created by the joining of free-floating grease and cheese, so I decided to move on to the veggie lasagna that I had actually ordered for lunch the next day... bad move.

The lasagne was obviously some sort of cheap, ready made, prison worthy monstrosity floating in a pink sauce which was both bitter and salty. And slimy. It was the first lasagne I've had that was actually slimy. And somehow, also watery. It was obviously prefrozen, and tucked away into the haphazardly thrown together chunks (that's right-- not layers, CHUNKS) of overbaked, hardened pasta was the distinct flavor of playdoh. I really like the pizza here. We've been going for years now. Staff has always been decent and respectful. I give four stars for two reasons. One is that their mushrooms used to be good but then something changed and they started tasting really vinegar like. So I don't order mushroom pizza any more. No big deal. But tonight, we ordered half pepperoni and half chicken. There was no pepperoni. I called and the guy on phones said we asked for cheese. We did not. I was sitting right next to my husband. The way the manager spoke to me about it made me feel like a friggen criminal. He said he'd send out four slices of pepperoni. We were kind of uncomfortable with the situation, a little worried about how they deal with complaints, so I called and asked him not to send it. His response was "If you really said pepperoni, it's not a problem." So naturally, I felt like if I turned it down, he'd think I was just a scammer. I've worked fast food for years and never in my life would I handle a complaint like that, especially from loyal customers that had been ordering from the business for years and never once complained. So me and my wife have been ordering from New York Style Pizza in Latham for 9 years since we moved to Cohoes ! We’ve never complained once about anything no matter what it may be because typically their food is good and consistent. However when ordering a Philly cheesesteak specialty. Pizza 24cut that was 40$ not the advertised 30.99 their menu states no where on the menu when choosing the menu option does it state what’s on it Philly cheesesteaks no matter pizza or sub are Steak cheese and peppers and onion ( mushrooms came on it which are an added thing less than Half of businesses put mushrooms on it and that’s an add on ) on the order online option it states what’s on it that tells you mushrooms , also on slice does not tell you what’s on it ! I called them because my wife is allergic to mushrooms and can’t even stand the smell let alone taste leftover on the pizza even if removed the mushrooms ! I’ve probably spent 10k in 9 yrs at this place and they couldn’t be bothered to send a new one or refund us ! Pretty sad when it’s 100% their mistake ! I’ll never order...
