We love the location and the food. Our favorite appeal is the outdoor seating, especially in the nicer weather like now for the summer. Their pizzas are our favorite and never disappoint. We have had a few other dishes like mushroom pasta and bruschetta which also was really good. Eliza is the BEST server. I have seen her around in other food service places over the years and she’s finally settled here at Capriccio. She RUNS that place and could do it all herself with ease. She is personable, quick, checks on you constantly and goes above and beyond to do the right thing for customers. She has great customer service and serving experience. Some of the other servers we get aren’t as good, they’re usually more slow and always forget to bring us our bread. Eliza said her husband works there too and we have frequented there enough that the last time we were chatting with her she had her husband come out and say hi and introduce himself. He’s also very nice too. It seems to work really well at that restaurant, like a well oiled machine when Eliza is in charge! We don’t have many bad things to say at all except the other servers can be slower and forget things unlike Eliza- but even then, definitely not anywhere near bad experiences at a restaurant. So we...
Read moreAnother Margherita pizza stop...this time right by the Hudson in Croton-On-Hudson, NY. We've seen this location advertised several times and decided... why not, road trip! We ordered two pies - the Margherita and the Brooklyn Square. Up first, the Margherita... fantastic. The mozz was spread over the majority of the pie vs. the traditional "circles" but it actually did not matter because of their sauce... this was one of the freshest sauces we've tried in a very long time. The dough..cooked perfectly with a nice crisp on the bottom. The same goes with the Brooklyn Square - thick Sicilian crust [again, great crust/dough - perfect combination of crunch and softness] fresh mozz baked on the crust followed by the same fresh sauce on top. Both pies did have a different taste and we gave the Margherita pie an edge over the Brooklyn Square. Only one thing was missing - garlic. We were hoping for some garlic on the Square - that would have been the "cherry on top" for this pie. Overall, we would definitely come back to eat here again. We were very impressed with the freshness; no secrets here- the pie is made out in the open; I did not see any cans or jars - that sauce was made fresh! Great...
Read moreAugust 2022 update: they’ve found a new bread which is better. Still not as good as the original. Thanks to the staff for pushing this with management!
The bread!! We’ve been going to Capriccio’s for over 10 years and are fans, from renovations at the old location to the new location. It’s felt like Capriccio was constantly working to improve. Overall the food is good, service is good. Waiters are super friendly, business seems good and busy. That’s why we were surprised lately at the change to a very cheap bread. I’ve eaten at many Italian restaurants of varying quality, love a little oil and vinegar with bread, but this bread is the worst I’ve tasted. It was also an enormous drop in quality from their prior homemade bread. I’m sure it won’t stop us from going to the restaurant still occasionally, but definitely not as often. It sounds like there have been many people complaining about this bread change yet no move by management. I hope the owners will take the feedback, and return to the quality bread - or at least find a middle ground. Italian restaurants, bread, a little oil and vinegar, important stuff. I’ll definitely amend this review if anything...
