Creative sushi joint, which seems to be undercover for now. Came here a year ago and again just now for a yearly event. The owner (I think), recognized us and provided a dish on the house for coming back. We had 3 wild kids with us ages 7 months to 3 years, and they were very accommodating and understanding. Super kid friendly.
Regarding the food, we all wanted to taste every single item on the menu. They have some pretty wild roll concepts and they are all very yummy. Usually enough sauce/seasoning that you don't need to dip in soy sauce. This isn't your usual sushi joint and for that reason you should eat here. The have pictures for every single roll, which is vital for knowing these complex rolls.
For apps, we had 1) the Fire Cracker, which was like a deconstructed sushi roll served on a Japanese tortilla chip. Technically they call it a fried wonton skin, but this was different. And 2) the Shrimp Bomb which I equate to an entire roll deep fried with tempura batter. Genius!
As for main course rolls: 1) The Golden Rabbit Roll - spicy yellow tail, avocado, scallop, crunch onion, and yuzu tobiko. This was our favorite dish for the night. The scallop made it crisp and fresh. 2) Mohegan Roll - spicy tuna, crab, avocado, seared albacore and crispy onion. The seared albacore gave this roll a different dynamic, while remaining raw. I am blanking out on the other rolls we got, so...
Read moreAsagao sushi is a cozy, unassuming, "Ma & Pa" golden delight that exists right off of Rt 9. I've had sushi all over Putnam and Westchester county, and Asagao arguably has the highest quality fish in the area. Their small plates are delicious and their sushi portion sizes are slightly larger than normal places (maki portions are 8pc instead of the usual 6pc!). The sashimi is also cut larger without sacrificing mouthfeel or quality. The menu has classic japanese small apps and dishes and korean dishes (bulgogi and korean-style fried chicken). Their sake selection is excellent. Their service is OUTSTANDING and the owners are wonderful people - they are truly some of the hardest working restaurant owners I've seen. The passion they pour into the food they make and the service they provide is one-of-a-kind. Thank you,...
Read moreHands down the best sushi in Northern Westchester. I love coming here with my parents and indulging in the delicious spongebob roll and the miso or spicy tantan ramen. Sure its a little pricey, but its definitely worth it for the sheer deliciousness you get. I would definitely say its much better eating in the restaurant, but because of the current situation there's not much we can do, but its still great. As for the negative reviews, they are all pretty much from quite a while ago (at least over a year ago), and you must understand that the staff work as hard as they can to satisfy everyone, juggling both takeout and dine-in orders during peak hours.
TL;DR it is a wonderful place and I recommend it 100%. The sushi and ramen are both amazing, and I always look forward to having it. You won't be...
