I usually love this place, been going since a kid with my family. Last night after hiking bear mountain I stopped in with my brother and friends. we were seated kindly but the bus boy came over and practically dropped my knife and fork down and when he brought water it leaked over the top everywhere, but didn't bring back napkins to dry it. after ordering the food came and everything looked good until I opened my sandwich and everything that was supposed to be on it was missing. I ordered the n.y. grilled chicken deluxe sandwich and asked for mayo instead of the Russian dressing. the sandwich came with cheese and bacon, the sandwich I received had two chicken breasts with mayo on the side. When I told the waitress she said the cheese was on the bread, I showed her no cheese and then she told me that's not what I ordered. when I told her what I ordered she said no you didn't, like I'm some child who didn't remember. then she gave me a fake smile and said "oh but don't worry I'll fix it for you." With her attitude I lost my appetite completely. my sandwich came back less than a minute later with 2 slices of Kraft cheese singles barely melted onto the bread and no bacon, my brother had to get up to go tell her and she came and told me that she'll bring me a side of bacon to put on my sandwich. instead of taking it back and correcting the order I had to make my sandwich. last time I checked I was a grad student teaching math and not a chef. I did not like the attitude of the waitress, she clearly didn't care about her clientele. but I'm sure if I went with my father I would've been treated differently, which is rude and disgusting. I wouldn't recommend this diner to anyone who...
Read moreI have become a frequent customer of this establishment and the breakfast is always satisfying. The 3 star rating is exclusively based on the girl that answers the phone on Monday mornings. I give my order in the way that I want it to be received and relayed to the kitchen staff and her annoying tone when she repeats my order different from the way I recited it would be easy to ignore except my order comes back with the wrong cheese ( maybe she should stop trying to correct my delivery and pay attention to the specifics) in addition when I HAND her my card for payment she regularly places in on the counter in return. I never experience this with weekend staff! Her service alone makes me want to take my business to DDs Diner which isn't very far away. Someone should remind her that she works as a server and whatever she make think about any particular customer is irrelevant! I do have better things to do with my time than try to get people reprimanded at work but I was annoyed for the THIRD WEEK IN A ROW {NOT 1 BUSY MONDAY! } The service is just as important as the quality of the food. THERES NO MISINTERPRETATION OF 3 separate occurrences. I am A Metro North Employee of the nearby yard so while they may not care about losing 1 customer, bad reviews amongst...
Read moreIt's not a bad place but it's also not great. It's swamped with old people on the weekends, especially on Sundays, when I can only assume they swarm right to the diner after church. Parking can be difficult, and with the throngs of elderly denizens buzzing around like geriatric bees, good luck not having one of them hit your parked car. I went to use the bathroom one day and there was a whole log just laying there on the bathroom floor, which I can only attribute to their customer base. Their food is kind of bland, especially eggs, meatloaf, potatoes, etc., types of food that do well with salt, and again...they likely are afraid to use salt because of their frail, elderly customers on stroke-watch.
Also, God forbid you want to alter your meal. For example, imagine requesting corned beef hash instead of home fries on the side of your omelette and being told, "We can't do that because the system won't let me." You're willing to pay extra for a more expensive side, but they won't do it because their computer overlords are too strict.
The Westchester Diner isn't much...
