The marina was easy to find from the water even during some bad rain. (Luckily the rain slowed just as we were coming in which made docking easier.) We were able to confirm via phone and radio that we’re coming in. Staff was very helpful and met us at the dock directing us to a slip. (Loved our spot at the end of B row which was deep and easy to get in and out of, and even had an old set of dock wheels someone likely left behind. ) Staff helped us get tied up, hooked up to power, and had working water hookup (Looked like there were two power hookups and two water hookups in our slip)
Mens Bathroom was one stall, one urinal, and one shower. But there never a wait for anything that I saw. This included even when the community pool was full and boaters were getting ready to head out on Memorial day weekend Sunday. I believe women’s is two stalls and a shower based on what the girls in our group said.
Everyone from the staff, community, transient boaters, and resident boaters were super nice that i interacted with.
There’s a beautiful walking/bike path next to the water. Well paved. Wish we had a chance to explore it, maybe next time. Walkways were also well paved.
The docks looked in good condition. Looked like they were doing spring maintenance as i could see various materials and machinery off to the side. Every so often you’ll see new boards in the docks. Seems like they really take care of and maintain their marina well. Docks were very stable walking on them. Ramp has hand rails and slip guards on the metal part. Obviously walking on a finger dock has some movement at the very end - so if you do it, one at a time if you needed to go to the end. But aside from tying up/untying or checking on something, not really a reason to be there.
Overall: Dont compare this to big city marinas and you wont be disappointed. Great docks, great staff, amazing views, really nice atmosphere.
Transportation: I recommend the local taxi service. It was a quick pickup, low cost (about 10 dollars compared to 15 via ride-shares for the time we used it), and our driver was super friendly with a big nice suv. Rideshare apps like Lyft and Uber were hit or miss, with few drivers available. This may have been due to the holiday weekend as we had similar issues when back in NJ where there usually isnt. We didnt try the car rental services nearby. Given how many ride services we used, it might have come close to being worth it. May look into it on a future trip.
The Town: There’s a laundromat in town and its next to some restaurants and stuff. We didn’t use it but that’s probably nice to be able to throw in a load while taking in the town.
We went to the in town pizza/Italian place. It was really deceptively nice in the back room. The others in our group got various dishes and all raved about them. I got the pizza which was regular/good. But i probably should have been more adventurous in my choice. The desserts were amazing.
In the morning we did the local diner. Breakfast was great. Also we got orders of food to go to have lunch on the water after departing. Everyone seemed to enjoy their choices of...
Read moreWe liked half Moon Bay Marina before we even arrived!! We booked our five night stay on Dockwa two weeks before arriving. We then called the marina directly and spoke to Steve regarding enterprise Rent-A-Car and having Amazon orders delivered. Steve is 100% the most helpful dock master we have dealt with. He went above and beyond giving us details on both things and made us feel at home. The stay there was great - all went smooth with docking and set up. There’s a small town very close with good restaurants, grocery stores and laundromat. We rented a car and went to Croton Gorge Park, Bear Mountain State Park, and of course, Walmart for boat stuff. We stopped and Peetskills and walked around. They have a great little used bookstore called Bruised Apple Books & Music. One of the best I’ve been in so far. Croton point Park is a nice walk from the marina and dog friendly. The marina does not have laundry facilities but because we had a rental car, I did large loads of laundry at My 3 Suds. We had a great dinner at Piato Greek kitchen. We had family with us and they took the train into New York City for the day and said the ride to and from was easy and comfortable and only $22 per person round-trip. The views from the marina are beautiful! We used the self serve pump out on our way out and thought it worked pretty good. Kudos to Steve for being so friendly and also their website- one of the best I’ve seen...
Read moreHello, My names Danny and My Newly Married Wife and I had our HoneyMooN on The Hudson. We Started from Kingston NY and rode the River to Manhatten. On the way down we stopped at HalfMooN Bay Marina as a Halfwaypoint to NYC. Our experience at HalfMooN Bay was SO NICE that we stayed two more days on the way back up/Home. The place was Pristine and well taken care of and where it sits on the Hudson River is "ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS"! The local people at the Marina were Very Nice as well, Very Helpful getting in and out when needed. But Besides all this, the Manager Steve was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING/AWESOME! He was Very Accommodating & Professional! A Good person with a Great Personality! So much so, that I consider him a friend now. I will be recommending the HalfMooN Bay Marina to all my Boating Friend & Family! My Wife and I truly enjoyed our stay there and dealing with someone like Steve was a pleasure! We will be making HalfMooN Bay Marina a Definite Stop anytime we take the River down to NYC. Thank You & God...
