Absolutely Wonderful! We will be back again. The food was delicious. The staff was attentive and knew their fare forward and back. They made inquiries, suggestions and were perfect hosts, in my opinion. I felt like I was more a guest at a manor than in a restaurant.
The place is definitely cozy. We went late on a Friday, and they were not too crowded. The area we sat in had windows all around decorated with tiny garden lights.
For drinks, we had Lemon Drop Martini and Chocolate Martini. Both were superb, handcrafted and the flavor on point!
Appetizer was a meat and cheese plate that was very delicious and well presented. I would go just for Drinks and this App, so delicious!
But we didn't stop there, we went on to have soup and salad, the soup was a special; it was a cream of mushroom that had the mushrooms pulverized into the cream and it was so delightful, I wish this was more common! We also had a Cesar salad and a salad with cucumber and tomato on mixed greens. The way they were presented was a delight. Each salad was on a plate, but withing a cucumber-slice bowl! The plate was decorated with Sweet Pepper Drops and spots of the dressing used in the salad.
Honestly, we could just come for parts of the meal, everything was filling but not too crazy, but we came for the full experience, and that is what we got.
The entrees were on point. The presentation and flavor were magnificent! I got the Fetrucine Primavera with grilled chicken added because I wanted a meat as well as veggies. The grilled chicken tasted fresh and it was cooked perfectly and worked wonderfully with the primavera. My companion got the Spaghetti Carbonara, with grilled chicken added, as they expected there to be not enough meat for their carnivore self. I was informed that the chicken was not neccessary, the carbonara was wonderful on its own, but the chicken was delightful.
As you may guess, we were practically full by the time the entrees arrived, so we barely go to half before we stopped to have room for dessert. Let me tell you, the waitstaff is phenomenal, they took the meals away, packaged them professionally, then hung the bag discretely on the chair in a way that would not be cumbersome to the table, out of mind until we were ready to leave, then in hand as we departed because it was right there. Excellent move, I wish more places were like this.
It was dessert time and we were already mostly full, so while there was a delightful selection of desserts, we had an ice cream affogato and a tiramisu. Ice cream with espresso has become one of my favorite meal endings, and this one was superb. They brought the dish, but then poured the espresso over the cream right at the table. Delicious! The Tirimisu was awesome. Full flavor and the lemon zest was fully present, I would definitely get both desserts again.
In a style I am rarely used to, they did not rush to give a check and did not urge us out the door even though it was obviously closing time. There were other guests but everyone was getting the full experience. They did not skimp just because they were closing soon. Absolutely wonderful hospitality.
Over all, I would do this again. Despite getting full too quickly, it was a wonderful experience I am eager to repeat with more friends and family!
update: These guys still are as fantastic as my first review. Highly...
Read moreI took my girlfriend for her birthday -- it was a Tuesday night so only a few tables seated and very quiet. We liked the atmosphere in the back room, lighting and white linen were elegant. Service was exceptional -- extremely attentive, polite, yet unobtrusive, and not rushed at all.
We enjoyed all of the food and drink: my rye Manhattan had the perfect balance of sweet, dry and bitter. While my gf loves Italian food, I'm not the biggest fan; I get tired of the ubiquitous standards. But they also had some very interesting alternatives. (I can't speak to whether or not these were "authentic" Italian, my main concern being whether they tasted good.) Among the specials, the fresh figs stuffed with blue cheese over prosciutto with a balsamic reduction sounded like it might be cloying, but the sharpness of the cheese and saltiness of the prosciutto created a perfect balance that was really delicious; and the linguini with mushrooms and sirloin had a pleasant earthiness and wasn't heavy. "Dry scallops" and jumbo shrimp over arugula risotto with a white wine sauce was also delicious. The flourless chocolate cake with a scary-pink but excellent raspberry cream drizzle, while not quite as good as my sister-in-law's (that's a high bar!) was very good.
This is not the place to go for a cheap meal (although much of the more standard fare is quite reasonable), but with two entrees and sharing one appetizer and one desert, we were both pleasantly full. I can't speak to the noise levels on a Saturday night, but from our experience I would...
Read moreCalled tonight for take out. Ordered a pasta dish and a chicken dish and two iced teas for my wife and I. I get home and there are no iced teas in the bag. I call and the first person I speak to tells me “oh you should have asked for those because they don’t put them in the bag.” So now it’s my fault. The next person gets on the phone and apologizes profusely and admits he completely forgot to include them with the order. Unfortunately the restaurant charged me for them and told me they could not credit my card because the system does not allow them to do that. He asked me to come back from my home and pick up the iced teas. When I told him that was unacceptable he told me the next time I come in just remind him and he’ll make it up to me. Unfortunately the chicken Fratelli was mediocre at best and the spaghetti carbonara fell in the exact same category. Overall, this place is consistently disappointing. $51 for whatever food and no drinks. ...
