Hacienda Lopez is the place I go on my birthday and order chicken chimichangas as a family tradition. For dessert I always get the fried ice cream that they set on fire right in front of you like a hibachi restaurant. While they sing happy birthday and you wear their borrowed birthday sombrero you feel like there is no place you would rather be. Besides the great birthday experience the food is always tremendously cooked and served on creatively decorated plates. Plates for main courses and cute little side bowls for their one of a kind delicious yellow rice and black beans. The whole place is authentically decorated from the beautiful murals on the wall to the precise engravings on the silverware giving an extremely sophisticated vibe. Adding on to the sophistication is the behavior of the teamwork oriented staff who are always waiting patiently behind those two huge expensive looking doors behind the free mint bowl. The wait staff is friendly and will fix any grievance you may have, although grievances are unlikely. Your food always comes perfect just the way you asked in a timely fashion. While you wait for those few minutes you will be treated to my personal favorite warm and colorful tortillas chips and salsa. The salsa and guacamole is made to the best of any restaurants capability and blows all store brand Tostito junk out of the water. Please come and see for yourself if you do not your taste buds will be missing out beyond your wildest...
Read moreIF YOU WANT AUTHENTIC HOMESTYLE MEXICAN FOOD, LOOK NO FURTHER! I love Mexican food, my fiancé is Mexican and visited this restaurant yesterday for the first time. I have had Mexican food all over the five boroughs, out west, and in Mexico. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD, I’ve ever had! They have a great variety of foods and I tried a bit of everything. I would definitely recommend the enchiladas de mole- if you want a flavorful journey of Puebla’s infamous spices with a wonderful Smokey chocolate base. But the fun doesn’t stop there... it actually started when I tried their salsa, which they serve with tortilla chips upon arrival. It is a light salsa with a hint almost of ceviche, that compliments their fresh tortilla chips. As for my main dish I had The carne asada con rajas, which is a juicy hefty skirt steak served with rice and beans topped with onions and poblano peppers. Your abuela wouldn’t believe the beans were made in a restaurant, they’re THAT good. To top it off, we had paella for the table, and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better- they hit it out of the park!!! The rice had a light spicy kick, and the shrimp was succulent... As odd as that sounds! Besides the wonderful food, the place is beautifully decorated with artisanal memorabilia, with bright colored walls and clay serving dishes! When you go to Hacienda Sauza you’ll be spoiled with amazing food, warm and helpful staff and a remarkable...
Read moreI try not to write bad reviews unless well deserved, so here goes. I’m in town visiting my family, I live in Southern California, so I know Mexican food. Came here Friday night for an early dinner. Our server was friendly, no complaints in that department. Our meals came out timely and I noticed a cooked moth in my plate! I did not make a scene and called the server over, he was very apologetic and offered me the menu to choose another meal. They told me it must have flown in while bringing the plate to me, I said it was clearly cooked and crispy. I ordered another meal….to give them another chance, no bugs. We all thought the food was average and rather bland, tasteless salsa, stale chips. We didn’t complain, when we received the check they did not even bother to comp my meal or at least my glass of wine, poor customer relations for an average restaurant!!! Upon leaving we noticed the screen door where the kitchen is was wide open, check...
