GameStop sells you Used & Open Games for the more expensive price of a New Sealed Game.
Under every circumstance, if the case itself is not in shrink wrap and the game is outside the case. This is not a New Game. Does not matter if its an indie or a mainstream game. The Game Should not be Sold for the New Price.
If you do not care about the condition of the game you plan to buy, ask for a used copy. They may provide you with a cheaper used copy. Instead of immediately giving you a ānewā and more expensive copy. If they say they donāt have it used and offer you a ānewā. Take notice if theres an absence of shrink wrap surrounding the case and the game itself is already outside. If it is, that is a used copy that you should not have to pay the more expensive new price for.
My Experience: I came to the cashier with the case of the game I wanted to buy. I asked them if they had a used copy of that game, they said no. They offered me the new copy instead and I agreed to buy it. The cashier then proceeded to take an open copy of that game from the back and place it inside the case and charge me the new price. I asked if that game was actually used because it was out of the case and the case itself was not in shrink wrap and had a price sticker on the box. They then told me that their stock of ānewā indie games get taken out of the case and stored in the back, but mainstream games remain in shrink wrap. I just accepted it because I wanted to play the game now and couldnāt find it elsewhere at the time.
The cashier then had the audacity to try and sell me the pro membership. GameStop is usually my last option when trying to find a game because they sell both used and new games for higher prices than their competitors. Walmart: Sells it for $10 Cheaper BestBuy: Sells you the actual price of the Game. VideoGamePlus (In Mohegan Lake): Sells Retro Games and New Games all for the accurate price. Iāve noticed their retro games usually match with EBay Listings. (Its a great store that deserves support, check it out). EBay: Sometimes Users have discounts on New Games & Users Actually Sell you a Used Game for the Used Price. Nintendo e-Shop: Often has digital sales.
So a Pro-Membership would be of no benefit to me. Iād be just giving them my money for a membership I hardly use.
Iām personally upset because I feel as if the employees who were working at this gamestop in the past respected their customers enough not to try and push scams on them.
This GameStop also has always had a habit of not having games in stock. I do understand not having the Anime or Indie Games to an extent, but not so much the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had an issue some years ago when I purchased my xbox One. I fixed the problem with other people from the company. You will say, why do you go back. I went back because all deserve a second chanceall.
Unfortunately, there is something wrong, or maybe I am the wrong here. We purchased 2 weeks ago a go one pre own game, and we didn't realize the game was for xbox s/x, so we can't use (we own xbox One)... I had the dvd with in the car but because of work I can't stop at the store the next days. Finally, we went today and tried to eturned it and we got a big surprise! From the $29 + dollars we paid, they will give us $10 back, yes, $19 + dollars. Why? because they only have 2 weeks for a full refund. Of course, the day we were there, no one told us about the 2 weeks.
Here we had bad communication between customers and employees. I think it is good to have real people and real items yo see and be able to hold, but really, why they can say something VERY important than you only have 2 weeks to return it... This is a scam for me or just an employee being lazy. Be careful they may have more rules after the third week in case you want to buy a pre own game or new game. By the way, we purchase another items that day for the total of $70 and still don't care about we work like any one and busy to stop in their 2 weeks we didn't were told. Is up to you, but be careful with the rules you will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNormally GameStop would be three stars for me, but between customer service online (unrelated to this location), another location altogether, and now this one, I'm feeling generous at the moment.
Most GameStops are stocked the same with the only differences being certain used game titles being in stock and some of the toys/collectables.
Unfortunately, whenever a new platform comes out the older games start to get phased out but that has been a GameStop thing for a long time now. This location had a pretty good selection overall of titles from the 3 platforms I searched.
Everything was organized, clean, and neat.
The lone employee in the front was very friendly.
Parking is plentiful, though keep in mind you're in the busy Cortlandt Town Center with a lot of bad drivers coming into this lot.
With physical media unfortunately trying to get phased out, I'm not sure how much time GameStop has left to be sustainable, but it's still nice to go while we can.
Overall a good location and one I'd visit again if...
