I recently visited this café, and while there were some nice aspects, my experience was a bit mixed. The café has a charming atmosphere, enhanced by the fresh flowers on the tables, which add a lovely touch. The owners are incredibly nice, which made the experience more welcoming.
However, I found the prices to be on the high side. I spent almost $50 on two lox bagels and two lattes—one small and one large. The lox bagel was not quite what I expected; it lacked the traditional toppings like capers or red onion, and instead came with a light smear of cream cheese, smoked salmon, and a generous amount of dill. It also wasn’t served cut in half, which would have been a nice touch. For the price, I was hoping for something closer to a classic NYC bagel.
The Banana Foster's latte also didn’t quite hit the mark for us—it lacked the distinct flavor we were expecting. As for the service, while the owners were lovely, one of the baristas seemed a bit distracted. When I approached the counter ready to order, she handed me a menu without any prompt and then continued chatting with a colleague. It was a little awkward standing there waiting, but I’m sure she was just busy.
Overall, the café has a pleasant ambiance and friendly owners, but there are a few areas where improvements could enhance...
Read moreAs a local and someone who also travels a lot and always supports small businesses, I have been several places and have had tasteless Chai Lattes..... This is not one of those places. We have their food and chai's often. If you don't want to wait in line (this place is VERYYYYY busy) then hop on over to their Facebook page, give them a like and order on there. I do that most times, even if I am dining in:) Usually when I order, Ashton- the owner is the drink maker. She makes a perfect drink. Today I ordered before 7am- so I could pick up soon after they opened. I walked in to find Ashton must have had today off- a young gentleman made my drink. It was delicious- as always. Again, if you don't want to wait, order through their FB page. People who have complained about pricing, if you want cheap, go elsewhere. Small businesses in our area use FRESH ingredients. Homemade breads and such. NOT frozen junk in bulk. I much prefer to put my money in the hands of a local small business owner. For me, I would tell you, ignore the negative reviews. The staff is amazing and if there was a problem, they would make it right. To negatively review a business without giving the business the opportunity to address your issues...
Read moreThe atmosphere was great however the experience was not. I ordered a special breakfast sandwich that supposedly came with cream cheese, tomato, lettuce, egg, etc. I received (after a long wait) a bagel with a TINY piece egg and cheese. I went back up and told the lady that it was not what I ordered (it was missing everything that it came with) and she gave me some attitude. Luckily, they fixed it and brought out the correct sandwich which was just okay but it rubbed me the wrong way. My boyfriend’s order was also wrong! He ordered the same thing and got a bacon, egg, and cheese instead. He didn’t feel like waiting so he just ate it. Additionally, we ordered some avocado toast and it came all smashed up in a tin foil wrapper even though we were dining in and other customers got plates. It tasted great but the careless preparation is not cool. I also saw at least two other customers who were upset with their visit in the same time frame. The coffee was okay. Definitely recommend going down the block to the glen mountain deli; we had a good experience there. It’s a shame because we were really excited to try this place while...
