Zachary's Pastry Shoppe — Restaurant in Town of East Greenbush

Yeaterday my hubby came home with my favorite cake from Zachary's Pastry Shoppe! If you know me you know how much I love the raspberry cake from there! Brandy or Cindy got me started on this. So the first year Ray bought it independently it was wrong. So last year Cindy/Brandy told him what to order, it was PERFECT! The kind lady at the store wrote it down and said this is what you say when you call next time. Fast forward to Monday he get’s his note out, calls and orders. So I’m so excited last night to dig in….. and……. it’s effing chocolate cake which I don’t like AT ALL! So today I call and the lady who gets on the phine said “I took the order and remember specifically asking him if it was our chocolate cake” Supposedly he said “I guess”. This is a $50 cake, not a 20 carvel cake! I said well did he read this slip to you and I read what the lady wrote. She said oh well I don’t remember. BUT you remeber asking if it was Chocolate cake!! Why would you asked that based off what he read/asked for?!?! She suggest in the future I call and place the order and speak to her directly. I asked if I should call and surprise myself for my birthday and Valentine’s Day?! Oh, and no offer to rectify their mistake just blame on the customer!!!

How to avoidid future problems?

I hate to say this... I have gotten baked goods, birthday cakes, and gluten-free stuff from your bakery. This weekend, my wife bought a gluten-free cake for my birthday for my father in law and sister in law to be able to eat. Ypur cake was absolutely horrible. As an amateur baker who has made dozens of gf cakes...tasted like cardboard. Frosting was not your usual frosting. Mouth feel was horrible. Felt grainy and stiff. ZERO moisture at all.

Suggestion...add 1 to 2 more eggs for every cake and 1 to 3 tbsp of oil. NO ONE IN THE YEARS I HAVE BEEN BAKING gf ever knew I am doing it. I have to say I am disappointed. Horrible cake. Through 60% away. No one liked it. 95% of my coworkers thought it was a real,...

The cakes are delicious. I did my birthday cake here, got a simple white frosting with no decorations and I was happy. I did my in laws birthday cake here, presented a design I wanted and the design totally missed the mark. I mean you guys didn't even take the few loose pearls off of the top of the cake. There was no attention to detail. All that matters is that the cake tastes good but if a customer presents a design you should try to fulfill it carefully. I should have mentioned that I did not like it but we were already running late and I was just happy that the cake was big enough for the party.
