I ordered tires from Amazon, and chose the option to have them installed, for which I was charged in advanced. Of the various locations that were listed in Amazon, this Monro location (#107 - Rensselaer, NY) was the best for me, so I picked it. I received emails from Amazon confirming the date and time of my appointment, and also called the location in advance to confirm it, adding that I would also like to have my tires aligned after the installation. At no stage was I notified that there was an issue with my appointment, either from Amazon or Monro.
My tires were delivered as scheduled, and I went in for my appointment at 8am. I informed the staff member at the desk that this was an Amazon order, and they proceeded to go ahead with the installation. It took pretty much all day, and at the end when I returned to collect my vehicle, I was told I would have to pay. The staff members, at the location, and I believe a supervisor who was called, did not understand that this delivery and service was booked and paid in advance through Amazon. Despite showing them the order invoice, they refused to understand the situation and informed me that I was in the wrong to book this online. They refused to acknowledge that this might have been a breakdown in the system that their own company has agreed to with Amazon.
In that situation, where I could not take my vehicle until I had paid for the service again to Monro, I had to make the payment and then worked with Amazon to get a refund for the service. It is a massive contrast that the first agent I talked to at Amazon customer support immediately understood the situation and took care of the refund for the advance tire installation, as compared to the absolute non-cooperative behavior shown by the Monro staff I interacted with, who were content with blaming the customer for an error clearly initiated on their side.
This was overall a terrible experience from me, and I do not recommend THIS specific monro location for any...
Read moreJust like the Mavis right next to them, if you have an older vehicle or big truck they try to make up all kinds of excuses to not work on it! The excuses they used were nonsensical & a clear indication they didn't want to work on it. They are a muffler shop, as their name implies, and they decline the customers request to put glass packs on a classic dual exhaust truck with the excuse they have to use OEM parts. đ There are no OEM parts anymore for a 35yr old truck, everything for them are remanufactured, after market or original replica parts from LMCtruck or similar sites. The next excuse was they have to abide by state laws but couldn't specify the law in question. I was a service tech for years, we took everything that came into the shop but apparently today these alternate shops avoid anything that involves actual work. They also didn't want to balance 33" tires on 15's with the excuse they can't because "beads are needed." I know at my shop we used to balance a lot bigger tires without beads, using normal hammer-on or sticky weights with no problem! He almost tried to tell me the shop was too busy but realized that was one of the first questions I asked him so he caught himself mid sentence and said let me ask my sub-manager, then came back and said they couldn't do it. Horrible customer service! They simply want fast, easy work, so if your vehicle is deemed difficult in their eyes they won't even attempt the work. Zero customer service and zero attempts to even look at the work as the conversation was all on the phone. I'd give zero stars if I could! Sounds like these guys need new management for the shop as this kind of attitude is losing them...
Read moreTried to rip me off for almost $350.00. They told me I needed a transmission flush and fill, a coolant change and that my battery was low. Little did they know, I had had these things done already. I had them done less than 10,000 miles ago. I just replaced my battery 4 months ago. I even told them I had these things done already and they checked their records, when they saw I hadn't had any of it done there, they tried to get me to get it done. I pretended that maybe I hadn't had the work done, since they had no record of me having the work done. When I said I had my battery replaced in October of 2017, they took my receipt, dialed the number for where the battery was purchased and pretended they were talking to someone on the other end of the phone (I know that because, they started talking on the phone and left the desk to go out into the work area). They came back in and told me that the place I got the battery from, was going to bring them a replacement battery for free. They told me that when I came in to have that work done on my car, they would call to have a battery delivered to them, and they would put it in for free. I ended up taking my car to a reputable auto station, they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car. I only took it elsewhere to make sure the work that I had already had done, was done right! I wouldn't recommend this place...
