Lynn's Hula Hut — Restaurant in Town of East Hampton

If you’re looking for a family-friendly spot in Montauk, Lynn’s is not the place.

We stopped in with two strollers to order takeout at the bar around 4:00 PM. The restaurant was completely empty. The owner — a sharply dressed woman in her 60s — walked in and immediately told us: • “No strollers in my restaurant.” • “You really don’t have much time because no kids are allowed before 5 PM, and it’s already almost 4.”

When I asked where this was posted, she said there was a sign outside. I went to look — the sign actually says “Well-behaved children permitted after 5 PM”

There was no hello, no hospitality, just a cold, condescending attitude. The place has mostly backyard seating, was completely empty, and we were ordering food to go.

Lynn’s Hula Hut is exactly what Montauk has been missing! The vibe here is unbeatable—laid-back, chill, and full of good energy. It’s the perfect spot to unwind with incredible cocktails (they really know their way around a drink menu—shoutout to Dimitri and Hannah) and, hands down, the best fries in town. And the live music is INCREDIBLE.

One thing I love is how family-friendly it is—they welcome kids until 9 pm Monday–Thursday (save for Wednesday when closed) and until 5 pm on weekends, and they make it super clear so everyone can plan accordingly. It’s a thoughtful touch that keeps the atmosphere fun for everyone.

Went here to watch The Realm and the atmosphere was lovely and the food we ordered was good but nothing to write home about. My issue was with the bar service. I originally ordered from the counter (3 apps, 2 drinks and some waters for ≈ $80) got a number, and had no issues, but when I went back in for 1 more drink, the female bar tender was extremely rude. She gave me my drink and asked if I wanted to open a tab, when I declined she told me “FYI for future reference there’s a 2 drink minimum”.. in a very nasty tone. I apologized but looking back wish I would have told her I had already ate and drank and just wanted 1 more drink. Not a chance this was a cc minimum as my ONE DRINK was $17… 😂 such a joke.
