Beast — Restaurant in Town of Fishkill

Located in an historic building in the Village of Fishkill. I love how they extended the outdoor patio. It will be nice sitting outside during the warmer weather. Inside is very small, layout not well thought out & cramped for space. I realize they are trying to get the most seating possible out of a very small space. Large bar runs down the entire side of room right up to the front door. A divider wall separates the bar area from the table seating making the space feel more closed in. When people enter, there is literally no room for them to stand while waiting to be seated because the bar & divider wall extend too close to the front door. People entering had to stand in the doorway which allowed all the cold air to flow in. We were sitting at the bar and had to keep our coats on. They should have allowed for more space by the front door. On a good note, the food was excellent & so was the wine. We had a glass of Cabernet & a glass of Pinot Noir, both were great. I'd like to see a few healthy options on the menu, maybe add a Mixed Green Salad or Beet Salad. Also the sides should include at least one vegetable. Really like this place, has some really great dishes like their guochujang ribs, good price for drinks, but was really disappointed in their Wednesday wings special. They offer $1 wings which seemed like a great deal and we were happy to have an excuse to go eat out here! However we sat down and were told that you can only order wings one order at a time which is understandable but also that they would not provide a box to take any home. I appreciate they don’t want people abusing the discount but we got two orders for two people and we couldn’t take a single wing left over home. We would have stayed and gotten another drink and more food (we wanted to try new wing flavors!) but this policy really rubbed us the wrong way and made the night a lot less fun, especially since we would have left had that policy been communicated before we sat down and ordered drinks. Just felt like they’re immediately punishing their customers for bad behavior we weren’t going to do? This is the only restaurant I’ve been to with this kind of deal that is this restrictive, really...

When you travel as much as I do, sometimes it can be hard to choose a place to eat. I can tell you, Beast will never be the wrong choice. The moment I walked in I was instantly hugged the the sweet aroma of smoked pork followed by a warm welcome of the hostess and bartender. Once I carefully picked my seat at the bar and cozied up I was immediately taunted by the vast selections of bourbons that they sported behind the bar. It was wing night so I started with 6 habanero wings, they had the right combination of sweet and heat with a kiss of smoke. After much deliberation I decided to order the pork belly Bahn mi. The pork belly had a nice crispy exterior that gave way to soft fatty interior that melted in your mouth. The pickled veg was a good contrast to the rich belly and the creamy Sriracha mayo.
