Giuseppe's — Restaurant in Town of Gates

We chose to have dinner here based on all the good reviews. I've also had lunch here a couple of times and, while it wasn't spectacular, it wasn't bad. The night we went here for dinner the restaurant wasn't more than 1/4 full. Kind of odd, considering all the good reviews. Despite that, it took 15 minutes to be seated, and another 10 minutes for our server to show up with menus. Add to that another 15 minutes for our server to reappear and take our orders. Oh, wait, I'm not done. Then we wait, and wait, and wait some more for our food to show up, and our server was nowhere in sight. NOWHERE. After waiting 30 minutes, I flagged down another server and asked her to send our server to our table. A few minutes later our server reappears and I ask her where our food is. She says she'll check and then disappears again. Another 10 minutes goes by and still no food. I tell my dinner partner that we're leaving. We get up to leave and suddenly our server appears with our food. So we sit down and start to eat our food. My lasagna was dry and flavorless. The chicken salad was mostly salad without much chicken. The meatballs that came with the pasta were well overcooked and hard. I mean, hard, as in having to cut them with a knife. And even that was a challenge. Our server reappeared, asked how everything was, so we told her the meatballs weren't edible. She took them away and brought fresh ones about 10 minutes later. Those weren't significantly better, so my partner ate her pasta, we got our check, and left. This place is a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde type of restaurant - OK for lunches, but dinner here is just plain nasty. An EPIC FAILURE ON ALL LEVELS! Our first and very last dinner here - EVER!! We'll stick with Papa Joe's for outstanding...

The food has been pricey but good all along. Today my husband went to pick up a medium pizza and tripe. There is only ONE size of tripe listed on the take out menu, which clearly states it comes with choice of salad or soup. For the last 5 years it came with a salad, 2 slices of bread and 2 butter cubes. Today nothing, so I called. "Giuseppe's please hold". I was on hold for 5 minutes, so I called back. I was on hold for 3 minutes then was hung up on. Now I'm furious. I drove down there there was one blond gal giggling on the phone and 1 customer waiting. No Reason for them leaving me on hold or hanging up on me the second time I called. The blond was smirking and rolling her eyes when I explained what was going on to a younger girl that turned out to be the owner's daughter. Again, there was One customer in the store. Not busy in the least. Moreover, the advertised price of $14.95 (clearly shown in the picture of their own take-out menu) somehow became $19. I asked for a refund, was denied and offered store credit instead. I said ok, so she called the owner for approval. The owner then refused to honor the store credit his daughter had offered, and offered to give me a salad instead (which should have come with the order in the first place!!!). After 20 years and many catering jobs, we will Not Be Back. Ever. They messed up orders before, but were never disrespectful. I deeply resent being lied to my face and having to waste my own time and gas to make them aware of their mistake. So, Buyers beware. Check your receipt, check your order, and make sure you don't leave the place until you're sure the price and the order is exactly...

I have to be honest. This review is a bit difficult for me. I truly wanted to give 5 stars 🌟 especially since this was my late father's "go-to" favorite pizza place. My sister and I were in the area, as we live quite far from there now, about 30 minutes away. We wanted to honor Dad's memory, and I've always LOVED 😍 Giuseppe's pizza 🍕 too. So, we ordered a large pepperoni, cheese, and onion pie. Pizza pie, that is 😋 and WOW!!! THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THE FLAVOR!!!! It tasted just like I'd remembered. Yummmmmm!! The only reason for the 4-star food portion is that it seemed as though the cheese was focused on the center, and about 2 inches of edging on the crust was too plain and neglected. There wasn't that awesome sauce and cheese to the near edge. The service was outstanding! The cannoli's were perfect! Mwah!! The entryway seemed like they were working on it. Fixing or constructing 🚧 🤔 couldn't quite tell, but unorganized for sure. The waiting area, same, a little unwelcoming. Hurts me to say, but y'all need the truth. Everything else was superb 👌 👏 🙌. I was so very pleased that the food was still as wonderfully tasty as I remember. Thank you, Dad. I'll go back for sure when I'm the area. Most importantly, THANK YOU...
