i feel bad for the waitress staff; they'd get better tips if the cook or manager actually cared enough to serve even remotely good tasting food.
i got a menu at lunch and even though i am not a vegetarian, i craved pasta or something without meat this specific day. i had to ask the waitress why there was nothing but salads as an entree option without meat. she went and got me the dinner menu to order from which the ONLY thing besides salads now was pasta entrees so i didn't have but a few choices.
i ordered the stuffed shells. the food came at a reasonable time but at a price. my shells were not even steaming. and they looked like someone mashed them with a fork.. besides the fact they were awfully tiny. four tiny SQUASHED shells. the first shell i began to cut open was somewhat difficult. it was rubbery and then almost harder in some spots. opened them up, still zero steam. took my first bite. sure enough- i could tell right away they were not only frozen but microwaved. i don't even use my microwave at home. it's incredibly unhealthy for you and it takes the nutrients with radiation poisoning right out of your food. it's like eating cake without any flavor. empty calories. i felt bad for the waitress so i didn't complain. she didn't make it. i didn't pay (thank god), someone i was with-did.
a hard roll and cole slaw came with my meal. the roll, i cut and noticed it seemed hard. i decided it couldn't be worse than the pasta but i was surely wrong. the only good aspect about it was the packaged butter. the roll was stale and rubbery. i had to quietly spit it out into my napkin.
the cole slaw was good. that's sad when that's the only thing you can find that was good.
my guest had a cheeseburger and fries. i tried theirs. the fries were soggy and flavorless without seasoning. (probably soggy because they were void of salt and left in their own grease). tried their burger and it tasted like a wendy's burger. now i haven't eaten fast food in almost a decade but if i wanted a cheap, (who knows where it came from and what's really in it) burger, i'd have actually gone to a fast food joint.
their prices were atrocious. $13 for stuffed frozen microwaved...
Read moreTried this place for the first time and right away I had my doubts from the exterior appearance to start, bushes are so overgrown they are covering the sidewalk leaving no room for customers to walk, the landscape looks like it hasn't been done in years, the windows are filthy, spiderwebs filled the corners of the entranceway door and windows, appearance of a establishment is so very important and should look inviting and this is far from the case! We arrived at 12pm and were greeted at the door and seated then realized we were given breakfast menus when asked for lunch menus she proceeded to hand us just 1 when clearly there was 2 of us, I noticed right away there was a open used creamer container sitting on my table and asked politely if the table was washed and I caught a terrible attitude from possibly the owner who stated yes it was and sometimes the servers do this when they are walking thru to serve someones coffee...SERIOUSLY?!?! Who does that?? Then we met our server who had no personality whatsoever and seemed to have a chip on her shoulder and I then noticed the owner standing right next to us watching our transaction as if we were there to cause isues and thats concerning to me since my daughter and I were only there to have lunch and be on our way. We placed our order and five min later the owner comes to my table to let me know they don't have any mac salad, mind you its 12pm and theres no mac salad? Ok whatever I ordered onion rings. We received our meals and were not impressed at all, wasn't terrible but not anything I would call home about.and the server seemed to be trying to rush us out. Needless to say I won't...
Read moreWe hadn't been to Pixley's Restaurant in a lot of years, so we decided recently to revisit there for dinner. There was more than enough parking when we arrived. The restaurant was about 3/4 full during our visit. We were seated quickly and given menus. The atmosphere was pleasant and bright. We looked over the menu, seeing a large selection and variety of food choices, at reasonable prices. Our first visit went very well, so we've been back for dinner more than once, ordering a variety of meals, and each visit has gone without any problems. Service during our visits has been friendly, prompt, and fairly efficient. On a recent visit, we ordered a Pilgrim Panini dinner, as well as a fried chicken dinner. Both meals were good, with fairly large portions of food, at reasonable prices. Including beverages, the bill from our recent visit totaled just under $23. This place is probably best described as a family restaurant. We'll continue to explore new places to eat but, we'll also keep Pixley's in mind when we're looking for a familiar place to eat with consistent results. We have not had breakfast here, but that's definitely something we want...
