Wimpy's Burger Basket — Restaurant in Town of Gates

I'd like to start off by saying the food here, especially the plates, are PHENOMENAL. That being said, I was truly disappointed on Sunday night. I work nights as an EMT. I was absolutely starving, it was 11:15pm, they close at 12:00am. I called and no answer. My partner and I decided to drive there to order instead, 5 mins away it was 11:21pm or so when I approached the window to order. Rudely, 2 women working informed me they would not be taking my order. I asked why and they said they were closing. I understood, but there was 40 mins left until close and it was not seemingly busy. Needless to say I didn't get to eat anything that night when I could have gone else where to get food but by the time I was done trying to get food there, everything was closed. I don't ask for much, certainly no special treatment for my line of work, but I don't get to stop for food often or use a microwave. Has been a while since we’ve been and sadly its greatness is gone.

Staff is too stoned or stupid to greet a customer as they walk in, and just stare at you until you ask if they are ready to take your order.

Freezing at the counter. Figured a draft from the door and service window were to blame; once our order was complete we sat down at an absolutely freezing table. Checked the locked up thermostat on the wall; temp was set to 70 but on “Hold” at 55°. The TV was way too loud as well; not a comfortable or inviting atmosphere and certainly not the place for a family dinner.

We asked the girl at the counter is she could either bag it up to go or get the heat going only to be met with a snarky “it’ll be bagged”.

The food was meh, the plates were lazily made with barely any of the requested condiments. Can’t fairly comment on the quality of the food as it wasn’t fresh by the time we drove the 25 minutes home but the kids sure seemed content.

I may stop in for lunch again if I’m working in the area but we most certainly won’t be back...

We order from here frequently because we ofterm work late and my husband is a big fan of the food. I think the food is typically good but as of lately things seem to be going way down hill. We have had many missing items lately and the last 2 times I ordered the including tonight the wings were undercooked. The order my husband just picked up the wings were absolutely horrible I put in a request to have them extra well done and they were slimy and we both agreed they were questionable as far as being cooked enough to even eat them. They ended up getting tossed in the trash unfortunately. We both tried calling and can’t get through to speak to someone. Seems like their phone lines are down based on the recording that comes on. At this point I’m too exhausted to have to go back over to the place to sort this out being it’s almost 11pm and then wait for a new order. Too bad I’m just getting home from a 12 hr shift and the dinner I was counting on was so awful it had to be...
