Great sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a toasted English muffin. The sandwich normally comes with scrambled eggs, but I ordered mine with a fried egg over medium. The partially runny yolk added nice moisture and taste to the sandwich. The coffee was definitely better than you find at most diners. This was my first time eating here, but I'll be back to try other items from their menu. They are located just east of Westvale Plaza on Charles Ave. UPDATE-1: Returned for lunch and ordered a two-patty smash burger. It was quite good with crusty edges, despite being a bit greasy. Also, the lettuce was tough and I removed it. The accompanying fries were not crispy. The fact that they were dry inside suggested they had been under a heat lamp for a while. My companions enjoyed their omelet and frittata. The diner starts serving lunch at 11:00 a.m., but breakfast is available all day. So, if you arrive between 11:00 and 2:00, you can order lunch or breakfast. I've included photos of their menu as I found it difficult to find a current one online. UPDATE-2: Sometimes you have to eat at a restaurant several times before you get a clear impression of how they do things. I returned to have the smashburger again. I ordered it with just cheese and the special sauce as they had no hamburger pickles, but they did provide a dill spear on the side. Unfortunately, the greasiness was more pronounced this time, and I decided I wouldn't order the smash burger again. Since I didn't care for the fries the first time, I asked if I could have a side salad in place of the fries. I was told no. I asked if I could have a side salad if I paid an upcharge. Again, the answer was no. So, I had potato salad in place of the fries. As a result of my experience during my second and third visits, I lowered my rating of the restaurant, assigning five points for breakfast and two for lunch resulting in an average...
Read moreOur family has a very meager budget for going out to eat, but both times we have chosen to spend some of that budget at Gracie’s, it has been well worth it!
What stands out most is the wonderful service. Casual, but thoughtful; prompt, but unhurried; friendly, but unobtrusive; hardworking, but stress-free. It’s HARD to strike that perfect balance! But both servers we have had there were very experienced and confident in their manner, which is a big deal when you rarely spend money at a sit-down restaurant.
The food is simple, but very tasty. Prices are more than fair and portions are just right for a family diner (enough to fill you up if you’re really hungry, or have a bit to take home if you’re not).
The decor is cozy and super clean, and it makes me smile at what is an obvious effort to put care and thought into making the environment welcoming and unique.
Very happy with our experiences there, and we will make sure to think of them first for our diner choice...
Read moreHad lunch for the first time at Gracie's today. Had a fantastic meal... hubby had a cheeseburger with fries and I had the bacon, egg and cheeseburger with fries🍔🍟 Hot and delish! Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Our server was super friendly and attentive. Definitely a hidden gem on Charles Avenue in Solvay. Check it out!!!
Update: August 2022 Visit Gracie's on a regular basis. It's our go-to diner. Still a fantastic place for a great meal and super friendly staff! Have had breakfast and lunch. Food is always delicious and coffee always flowing☕ The only improvement I would suggest is the texture of the french fries. They look crispy on the outside but they are soft inside and out. Overall, will continue to eat at Gracie's....
