I went here on 31st of August - during peak Labor day rush roughly around 7.30 pm. We were given a pager and informed that it would be a 40 min - 1 hour wait time. We were seated on an outdoor table in 40 minutes but the server did not take our order for another 10-15 minutes as they were serving the other tables their food. It was quite chilly, and it was getting hard to bear for us with us being not warmly dressed and coming straight from the lake. I asked the employees at the entrance if we could be seated inside and they told me that I would have to leave my table and they will give me another pager. Since I was starved and the server hadn’t even taken my order yet, I decided to wait until my order was taken so that I wouldn’t have to wait longer to get the food once I am reseated. Upon reaching them again after ordering, the elderly man at the entrance told me the same thing again but this time with an annoyed expression. Regardless, in a few minutes, they got us a table inside to share with another couple - but our seats were right in front of the AC with the air blasting on 62. So it did not serve any purpose as we were still cold, though there were other tables clearing up tucked in the corner away from the AC. After a few minutes the mac and cheese arrived which was mediocre at best. Maybe after another 30-40 minutes we finally received our Fun Guy Pizza which had no flavour - couldn’t even taste the garlic in the base. It was a huge disappointment after such a long wait and enduring the cold, it was also tough to get a hold of the server to order anything else.
Overall, it was overpriced ($42.01 for a large vegetarian pizza and mac and cheese) and not worth the wait at least for a vegetarian. Pizza hut’s veggie pizza is much more enjoyable than this.
I went to the restroom after eating, and this is what has caused me to even write this review, everything up till now would have let me move on from the bad experience. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting - no toilet paper, the garbage overflowing with used paper towels, the toilet seat splattered with pee. What’s worse is that a waitress had used it right before me so I cannot fathom how they can witness the bathroom being in such a condition and not even care to restock the toilet paper or take out the trash. I was absolutely disgusted and seriously question the hygiene of the staff...
Read moreThey're really trying at this place. They have fresh ingredients and you'll definitely be able to tell, but the execution just isn't there. When I drop 80 bucks at a restaurant for two people I better be impressed, and honestly I could've had better at the Hut and fed the whole street.
We ordered cheese curds for an appetizer. Definitely fresh curds, but not appropriately battered so the curds basically soaked up all the grease from the fryer and turned into one big coagulated mega grease curd. Forgivable since admittedly it's a pizza place but if you're going to put out curds in Wisconsin, not doing it well is a cardinal sin.
Pizza again had very fresh ingredients but not cooked all that well. I had a gluten free D-lux. My wife had regular sausage and green olives. Both seemed to be very well done on the edges and not done enough in the middle. Again, wood fired oven, I get it, but isn't that what I'm paying 23 bucks a 12" pizza for? The crust was average, and I'm fairly certain my gluten free crust was just a typical Udi's crust. Iykyk.
This is the point where the angry restaurant owner whines that we didn't say anything while we were there after I leave a review. Here's the thing. What would the 19 year old server have done better? Get us different mediocre food? Waste of everyone's time. Refunded our bill? Not fair to all the staff that have to make a living off of this place. That just hurts the business and by extension the staff. So did I pay and tip 20% anyway? You bet.
Not to mention this place, shockingly for the first week of October, is crawling with flies. Not another bug in sight around town but 4-5 flies buzzing around us during our meal. Not exactly an establishment that I want to hang around and order something else that might be better.
Key takeaway - it just wasn't all that good, there were lots of flies, and it was expensive. Good luck...
Read moreWe came on a not very busy Friday for a late lunch. WT is a stop my family and I always make on our annual trip to Door County and we were so excited to return! We ordered the cherry and goat cheese salad and the BBQ chicken pizza (I believe it was called the Holy Smokes but can’t remember). The salad came out and was very good, just like we remembered from years past. Unfortunately, the pizza came out and was not good. The cheese wasn’t melted, the onions were slightly tan in color but not caramelized, the center of the pizza was barely warm and most concerning the dough of the pizza was raw. It was very clear the pizza was not cooked long enough, and was cooked at too high of a temperature causing the outer portion of the crust to ‘set’ but not actually cook the pizza. I got up and let some workers know and they took our pizza back, without apologizing, and let the chefs know. A 2nd try of a pizza came out and this crust was burnt all the way around. Because we had been waiting for 50 minutes at this point, my family and I were willing to over look that and eat the pizza. However when we each grabbed a piece, the center was cold and the dough was raw AGAIN. I once again had to get up and let a worker know, who let me know it wasn’t their fault and who also didn’t apologize and they took the pizza back. Having spent an hour at this restaurant on a not busy Friday, having to send raw food back twice(which is a major food safety concern), and having none of the workers we let know about this apologize (except our server when they dropped of the 2nd try pizza) left us extremely disappointed (and hungry!) and we left to eat somewhere else. WT was a must stop place for us but after this experience I’m not so sure...
