If I could give 0 stars, I would. Will not be returning to Bella Pasta. Yesterday, my mother and I took my elderly grandmother to Bella Pasta to celebrate her 85th birthday. My grandma uses a walker and is wearing a cast on her wrist, recovering from surgery. Upon entering, we were greeted by the host who sat us and confirmed she would be back to move my grandmother's walker to the appropriate spot once she was settled. In the midst of me gathering my grandmother's belongings, before even sitting in the booth, I was immediately snapped at by the waitress and told with an attitude, 'Yep. Grab all your stuff now because we are moving that, it needs to get out of the way.' No problem. I finally get my grandmother settled when this same waitress circles back and again, immediately snaps at now our entire party of three with something along the lines of, 'Ok guys. This needs to move right now. This cannot be in the way,' in the most patronizing tone possible and hauls off with the walker before any of us can get a word in. Now again, we are here to celebrate 85 years of my grandma who is recovering from surgery. The waitress comes back and I ask for a different server. The server is clearly pissed and working up a sweat and now begins arguing with my mother about why we want to switch servers to which the 3 of us respond: 'It is her 85th birthday. We just don't want to deal with the attitude.' The server continues arguing before my mother says, 'We know the walker has to move. That isn't the point. We just don't want to deal with the attitude, so please.' Instead of just sending us a different server, she makes my grandma get her walker (again) and move 3 booths down to another servers section. Our new server's name was Alana. Alana was great and I hope management gives her a raise and a big pat on the back as she couldn't get through telling my grandma the soup selection without our previous server interrupting her. Truly the strangest experience of my life. Food is good. Alana keep it up! But will not be back. Ever. Get rid of the other waitress and I...
Read moreOrdered a battered fish fry, chicken French and artichokes French for take out. Bill was nearly $60. The food was ready when promised. The fish was well cooked but lacked seasoning; the fries were limp and soggy. Surprisingly, the chicken French others raved about had a bitter aftertaste (possibly caused by using lemon slices instead of lemon juice, and thereby integrating the taste of the pith, the white, bitter part of the peel). The chicken breast itself was encased in tasteless batter, thin, overcooked, and dry (this usually happens when it's made in advance and then re-heated in the sauce at the time of order). The artichokes French were tasteless, gummy, and served over spaghetti swimming in a thin, bitter broth (I ate 3 artichokes, and threw it all out). The highlight and perhaps saving grace of the entire meal was the red sauce on the otherwise limp side of angel hair. It tasted fresh and bright, smooth and silky, just like my Mom used to make in Italy, where I grew up. Overall, other than the abysmal artichokes French, the food was not "bad", it just lacked seasoning, was overcooked, and slightly overpriced. Sadly, most restaurants in Rochester still fail to understand that taste and texture are the key to repeat customers, not doggy bag worthy portions of mediocre food. Besides, huge portions + doggy bags cost the restaurant just as much if not more than smaller portions of well seasoned, impeccably cooked food. Italian cuisine is all about fresh, simple ingredients, perfectly seasoned, cooked with great care. It's all about quality over quantity. It's memorable food. I can't say that about our first experience with Bella Pasta, but I'll give it a second chance. The red sauce was good, and the pizza looks good, so we'll try...
Read more1st time customer. Called in a pickup order for my wife and I 5:30pm on a Sunday night. Phone person was very friendly and helpful. Was told my order would be ready in 30-40 minutes. Got there 6:10pm. Food was hot and boxed/bagged already. Excellent timing and service overall.
Got warsaw wings for an appetizer. Wow they're amazing! Great option for vegetarians like us. Would definitely get again.
We both got the Bella Pasta Special with a side salad. If the soup didn't have meat we would've got soup. The side bread and salad aren't anything extra special, but they're still good. Both got a side of basil cream sauce and mixed into the pasta. I liked the pasta with or without the extra sauce, but my wife thought it was a little too sweet without the extra sauce. We both LOVED the dish. Best we've had from a restaurant in a long time.
Wife got a cannoli and I got tiramisu for dessert. She's a cannoli connoisseur and has tried many from local Italian places and bakeries. This is one of her favorites EVER... lick the container clean kinda good. I don't eat tiramisu that often, but it was delicious.
My wife was a chef for almost 15 years and the last couple were at GVC and Rochester country clubs... she's legit. One of her specialties was Italian food. I've seen her put family members in a food coma countless times. We've tried lots of Rochester Italian restaurants and she always finds something they didn't do right. We kind of gave up on Rochester Italian in favor of her cooking until we tried Bella Pasta. The flavor profiles and quality of food are excellent! We'll definitely...
