The ingredients are pretty solid. The bread is a touch too salty but still good bread. However, this is unlike any Stromboli I’ve ever had or seen. It’s more like a very poorly constructed calzone. The food is very unevenly distributed, in that all the ingredients are in the middle third- the two ends are just lumps of extra bread. Strombolis are usually flatter and in several slices and the sauce is usually inside. This was cut in half and not all the way through because it was so thick down the middle. The overflow of cheese made it melt to the box so that when you tried to pick it up the bottom part of the bread stuck to the box like glue. The ratio of ingredients per bite is way off and you have to dip it in sauce like a calzone but the “Stromboli” is so dense and not contained, so everything falls apart when you go to dip. You can only pour the sauce on and it’s a mess.
The flavors are there but not in the right ratios per bite- it’s kind of an unpleasant experience to eat. I hope they consider some other recipes in terms of how to construct it. Does not hold a candle to Stromboli’s on east ave downtown. Although it very well could if it was prepared in a way that resembled a Stromboli. It made me sad because I can see it being very good made correctly but ultimately even with knife and fork I didn’t enjoy it enough...
Read moreWell took my son there for the first time waitress was nice got the garlic knots they were drowning in butter with chunks of garlic on top not very appetizing. My meal came with a salad and there was not much on it and the dressing was very bitter. I hardly eat it! My son ordered a pizza which was good. I ordered the shrimp scampi, the shrimp was over cooked and hard and the scampi sauce was so lemony it was unbearable. Waitress comes and brings the check and says " I took your meal off but I charged you for the salad" when I looked at the check the salad was $8, not worth $8 (reminds you soup or salad is included with the meal) when I said something to the waitress she said "well u eat some of it". Wow I have never been to a restaurant where if u were unhappy with your meal they still charged you for the salad that is included. I'm not one to complain but I did want them to know and they still did nothing to make our experience better. Then the waitress says on our way out "hope you come back". We will not be back. There are much better Italian restaurants...
Read moreWaited for a few tries before I rated. I don't understand the negativity in some of these reviews. First of all I am reviewing this purely on their vegan options: the pizza is excellent. They use Daiya cheese and a host of fake meats and other options to choose from. The selection is so refreshing. Secondly, we tried dinner here last night dining in - not only was the server super attentive and great, but the food was also delicious. The vegan "chic'n" parm and eggplant parmesan were amazing and the sauce here is exactly how I like it - robust with a tinge of bite and sweet, most importantly homemade. I love that this restaurant embraces planet based options and offers several of them. Greece needed a vegan option BADLY and Cinelli's delivered flawlessly. Keep it up...
