I love Tom Wahl's. This was my first visit to this location, though. We were there for takeout (2 Mushroom Swiss burgers, a regular cheeseburger, a kiddie meal, 4 sodas and 2 regular-size fries)
Atmosphere - This location is large! It's bright. There is a section with booths and a larger section with tables. The restaurant was well-cared for and very clean. Even the customers coming and going seemed really friendly. It could have been that it was Christmas Eve but I am giving this location and its staff credit for that, too.
Service - Service was very good and the staff were all rather friendly. They seem like they enjoyed working together.
Food - DELICIOUS! I love that they make just about everything to order, especially the fries. Burgers were cooked to perfection. Juicy and tasty. Buns were nicely toasted. Fries were crispy.
"Minus" points -
Their ice cream machine or something were down so I couldn't get a root beer float or a root beer float. They make root beer floats the way Mom used to - the perfect blend of root beer and ice cream (soft serve). I wanted to try a root beer milkshake as I have never had one.
It didn't seem like the root beer was dispensing properly from the beverage center. All that was coming out of the dispenser was foam. We reported this to a cashier and were told someone would check it but I don't think anyone ever came. We mentioned it again and were told their root beer is like that. I know Tom Wahl's root beer is foamy. But I have never seen it like this. It didn't seem to settle into soda and didn't taste right. We decided to choose other beverages.
Even with the minus points, I would go back to this location. I am still not too keen on eating out too often but I am definitely interested in dining in at...
Read moreEven after more time & a couple more visits here, this place is now even worse than before if that's possible. Drive by the place any time and the mainly empty parking lot tells you everything. It's the talk of the town - and not in a positive way. I was looking so forward to this place finally opening - really needed a decent restaurant especially in this area of town. I have tried it multiple times, first when it initially opened and a few times since. I am sorry to say that neither the food or service has gotten any better. They definitely appears to be a huge gap in management here - something that needs to be corrected as soon as possible, as this is affecting the entire organization overall. The cheeseburgers are very flat tasting, as are the fries. Even when there's no one in the place the service is slow. This is not the same Tom Wahl's that I've been accustomed to for well over 30 years. After giving it several visits hoping to see improvement, it just hasn't happened - and I'm not expecting that it will - especially with the food. I always order my burgers medium rare and fried light cooked - they have yet to get this request right. Everything is always over cooked. And the prices are quite high, especially when compared to other burger places that have outstanding burgers. In the end, this is just disappointing, especially after waiting so long for it to open. It's pretty obvious that the manager of this restaurant is totally inept for the job and needs to be replaced immediately if this location...
Read moreYou can't order ahead, which means you have to sit in your car for a LONG time. Also, I ordered a root beer float ($3.??)and a cheeseburger ($7.38 with tax) and they said the total was $15.?? When I asked about the discrepancy in the cost of the root beer float, I was told that the price had changed. I expressed my amazement that the price had increased by THREE dollars and that the change was not posted on the menu, the waitress explained to me that that was the price that came up on the register when she input it and it could not be changed at least 3 times and she got frustrated with me and got an attitude. I went to the window and calmly asked her why she was upset and talking to me like that and she replied that I couldn't understand what she was explaining. I told her that I did understand, but normally if you go into a store and something is mismarked it still must be sold at the marked price. The supervisor came over and told me that she would send someone out to take a picture and she would send it to the office. I asked, how would that help me now? And she got mad and said fine. She stomped off and came back with a large float with the cover 1/2 off and pop that had run down the sides. She practically threw it at me and said ,"There". I tried to explain that I didn't want something for free...I just felt I should be able to get the float at the posted price. She told me to just take it and go. I did and I won't...
