It pains me to even consider leaving this place a bad review because the food was truly outstanding, but from the moment we set foot inside, we were treated rudely beyond belief. They seated us 1/2 hour before they opened (which itself was so crazy that they were not serving lunch until 1pm and were doing us "a favor" to seat us at 1230p) and behaved as though we were such an imposition to them. Not sure if it was the owner or wait staff tending to us, but we literally were afraid to ask anything of him because he was so rude. My nephew's nanny didn't even want to ask for water. The first thing I tried to order was a veggie burrito, to which he replied, "that's on the dinner menu". When I asked if I could order it for lunch, he hesitantly nodded yes, again continuing with the behavior that we were a total imposition and not even considering to offer it to me anyway as an option to order for lunch. Chips and salsa at the table came only after asking for it, and for four people, they literally served a single, very shallow and tiny bowl of salsa. When I asked for two more of the salsas, our server gave us attitude about it. He brought them, but then when we got the bill, he tried to slip us a $4 charge FOR SALSA! I was outraged. Never was this outlined in the menu or explained when ordering. I don't even trust that it was a standard thing of theirs! FIX YOUR ATTITUDE. I am a business owner as well and would never deliver or tolerate such rude...
Read moreLooks adorable inside! They were quick to seat us, very nice and pleasant to order with, but that's about where it stopped.
No A/C on made it ok, but still warm and brought out the old smell from the carpet. No music was playing, made it uncomfortable to chat since everybody could hear us. The chips they served us were stale and the salsa had way too much salt. The bean dip wasn't bad though.
I ordered "The Pueblo" for $17. The ground beef taco meat was way too salty. Also because they had it laying on the plate, the taco got too soggy for me to pick up and eat. The chicken tostada chicken was overcooked and a little hard to chew and extremely bland. The cheese enchilada was not terrible, but it wasn't anything to ride home about. The rice was very bland and not really sure if it was supposed to be spiced or not but didn't have much flavor despite it being a slightly different color. The refried beans with the cheese on top were honestly the best part of the meal. The lady was very nice to get us a big side of sour cream, but even the sour cream was really salty.
My husband also ordered a $17 trio. He drank water. I drank unsweetened iced tea and with the upcharge for extra sour cream the bill came up about $45, which is about what we expected.
Needs some updating to the menu and atmosphere if they look to continue with...
Read moreBleh. I was really excited to go here and try a non-chain Mexican restaurant. While not completely disappointed, I was underwhelmed. I appreciated the salsa and chips that came quickly as I sat down. The server was quite attentive and friendly. That was the positive side of the experience. I ordered a combination dish with a taco, chimichanga, and enchilada. The dish came with rice and beans, and the rice had very little flavor while the beans felt simply reheated. I really enjoy Mexican-style refried beans, but these were lacking in flavor and texture. The meal, outside of the rice and beans side dish, was quite good. I tried the tres leches cake for dessert, and it was inedible - dry and not sweet. I have not completely written this place off because of the good service and the adequate main meal, but there are about a dozen other places I would like to try in Westchester before I...
