IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN, come here. I came here after long walk on the aqueduct trail. A heavy set white woman behind the bar asked me if I was dining in or to go. I replied "to go please". She put a menu on the counter. I ordered my food and asked to pay now since I wanted to take a phone call outside. I noticed immediately how polite she was to a woman that came in after me. Smiled, greeted her and proceeded to bag her food and when the woman asked for utensils, she placed it in the woman's bag. Once my food was done, the woman behind the bar simply placed my order on the table and said "here you go". I asked her if I could please have a bag, and she reluctantly walked over to the side station and muttered under her breath "do we even have bags..?" Then proceeded to make one appear and again, just placed the bag on the counter. Confused I placed my food in the bag, and when I asked for utensils she literally THREW IT AT ME. When I looked her with raised eyebrows, this woman started laughing in my face and said "oh haha sorry have a good day" I honestly can't believe how rude she was. I strongly advise against going here especially if you're of color. The energy...
Read moreYou walk into a colorful, artistic, and cozy atmosphere. Larissa was our waitress. She was friendly and very helpful. Gave us great recommendations, answered our questions, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, and the food came very quickly.
We got the vegan nachos as a starter. The cashew "cheese" sauce was really flavorful. Pickled carrots, onions and the crispy cauliflower topping was delicious.
My cauliflower bowl with rice, beans, and sauteed kale was delish.
My brother enjoyed his steak bowl.
My dad's portobello fajitas were fab. One of the juiciest and flavorful mushrooms I've ever had. The char on it was great.
Also tried one jack fruit taco which was really tasty as well.
Overall very creative with really awesome options for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free, and meat eaters. As a vegetarian, It isn't often that I get to go to a restaurant that offers me more options than a frozen veggie burger patty and french fries as a vegetable.
Good pricing, fair portions, and I feel good after I ate. Whole foods - you can tell it is fresh.
Their sister restaurant is Sweet Grass Grill...
Read moreTomatillo is a small nice Mexican restaurant. In the past three years, tomatillo has been the go-to place for me to have Mexican food. When you walk in and sit down, you're immediately served with chips, salsa, and a pitcher of water to pour yourself. The chips and salsa have a nice, unique taste due to how many of the restaurants ingredients come fresh from a farm. While the menu is small, there is a lot you could customize in your food. For example, I usually ask to not put spicy sauces or garnish on my food. There's also a menu for kids, in case you're not into the Mexican food yet. The place also includes a bar, which not only makes really good margaritas, but allows you to actually eat at the bar in case the place is packed or if you like to watch the TV. The place can get packed but it's usually quiet on weekdays. Not everything is perfect, I would like to see more than one TV for the bar, but other than that I really enjoy eating at tomatillo. While the place did close down for a bit due to an electrical fire. I'm glad that my favorite Mexican...
