UPDATE: 2/19/23: This visit wasn't quite as good as the first. The Eggs Bennedict was over cooked and the home fries were actually burnt; I'll eat crispy but these were burnt. Our server never returned to see how our meal was so we couldn't comment until after we were finished. Lowering my review from 4 to 3 stars.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: 2/12/23: I find it interesting that the majority of Yelpers who give poor ratings about how horrible the food is provide no photos. Show us how bad it is if you're going to say it's bad. For us, the service and food were both quite good.
This was our first visit to Jimmy's Egg and we were impressed with the menu and all they offer. One nice thing about their breakfast dishes is that you can choose your side - they don't automatically give you bread and potatoes. What a nice change!
We did start with a cappuccino which was more of a latte - it seems our server didn't quite know the difference or how to make one.
For our meals, we chose the Classic Benedict and the Biscuit & Gravy Omelette. The eggs in the benny were perfect. In fact, I heard someone in the kitchen say, 'keep your eye on the benny' and the response was that there were 20 seconds left. Seems they have a plan in place for making poached eggs. While another Yelper here said they disliked the hollandaise sauce, we found it to be good and tasted as it should.
The B&G omelette was good but I have to admit, I probably wouldn't order it again. I choose it because, for the price, it offered an omelette with ham, sausage, bacon, and cheese and included a B&G along with two sides. The B&G is served on top of/or in the omelette which I found odd. Next time I'll opt for the Biscuits Gone Wild which offers the same as the omelette for $1 cheaper and just one side.
The bacon is described as slow-smoked. It definitely is smoked. I guess I haven't had smoked bacon before...not my favorite for a morning meal.
It seems the restaurant chain has a few locations in the South which helps explain why they offer sausage gravy dishes and cheesy grits - both are two of our favorites.
The restaurant was clean. It was not loud (as another Yelper complained about) and our server was...
Read moreDO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL staff and management. On DoorDash, Jimmy's Egg doesn't accept special requests it says you need to contact them. When you call the restaurant, management and staff tell you to stop calling them and to write it down on the app and after multiple times of telling them there's no way to write a request they hang up on you. They always have my order incorrect or missing my drink. Every time I call them about the incomplete order they tell you "we can't reimburse you sorry". They consistently make mistakes and the manager always says "we're human we make mistakes" which is understandable but the fact that it's always the same mistake missing or incorrect item and my order is ALWAYS THE SAME THING one omelette with one drink. The manager is terrible at customer service. He did absolutely nothing to help me instead he was laughing at me because I kept repeating to him that it's the same mistake they're making over and over again. Then he proceeded to say something under his breath saying I need to stop going back and forth. The entire time he didn't let me speak he kept screaming over me saying "I understand we're sorry" in a sarcastic way. I told him its been happening so much I'm just asking if they could take a second to review all orders. He laughed and yelled at me "I UNDERSTAND". My receipt on DoorDash clearly lists all my items but the restaurant receipt is incomplete almost as if they do it on purpose. Very few times my receipt on DoorDash matches the restaurant’s. If I could give 0 stars I would. The food is eh but not worth it. This is not the first incident I’ve had with the employees and the manager. He didn’t give me his name. But it’s always the same guy, whoever is there between 11 am -1 pm in Albany NY. They can never tell me why my order is missing or incorrect. Seems like they're even ruder to you if you are...
Read moreFood was decent for a party of 6, nothing to write home about, but no complaints either. Coffee was on point.
The main issue was the server. Again, nothing above and beyond, but not terrible. Paid the bill with CC and wrote “cash” for the tip and a $20 was left on a $96 bill.
So we finish and go outside and we’re standing in front of the business saying our goodbyes when the server comes out clearly frustrated and said “you wrote ‘cash’ for the tip but you didn’t leave one.” It caught everyone off guard insinuating we didn’t leave a tip on the bill. I look at her as it was directed at me since I paid with the CC and told her a tip was left. She then shuts the door and goes back inside and starts cleaning off our table. While she’s doing this and walking around, I can see her shaking her head, mumbling, thinking we stiffed her….
I was super annoyed to say the least and thought it was pretty damn rude she made a scene. Sorry, I didn’t know tipping is mandatory…. Maybe this place doesn’t pay a livable wage? The service there as a whole should do better. Work for the tips and don’t act like it’s mandatory. It just put a bad taste in my mouth…I’d like to see her reaction once she found the tip in the book or between the CC...
