It feels kinda weird to give 5 stars to a bowling alley, but my rationale is that it's 5 stars relative to what it is. For instance, the restaurant inside if it advertised itself as fine dining would not get 5 stars but it's a bowling alley restaurant and for a bowling alley restaurant, holy cow is it way better than it has any right to be and the bar inside is great. So yeah, I'm giving 5 stars to a bowling alley. This place is great for a date, not the first few dates but for that ok we're into each other, we've seen each other naked, we're comfortable, not trying to impress, we know each other for real, let's do something on a Saturday night that won't break the bank but it's still fun kind of date. It's also great for hanging with some friends for a few drinks or a fun family night with the kids. There is a restaurant, a bar, pool tables, a pretty big arcade, laser tag & bowling. The restaurant is not your typical bowling alley restaurant, it's more like a TGI Fridays type sit down casual place & an American Gastro Pub had a baby. I went with a group of 8, we were going to bowl but we sat first to have a few drinks and we ended up ordering a bunch of apps. We ended up sitting and joking around so long we never ended up bowling, but we ordered some food. The penne got compliments, the burgers looked great & everyone who ordered one really enjoyed them. The wings were good, I ordered the Cajun chicken salad. I guess I didn't look at the menu and missed the part where it said it was a quinoa salad because I was expecting greens and raw veggies, but it was strips of cajun seasoned grilled chicken breasts over quinoa with veggies and goat cheese. I wanted a salad, but it was my mistake, so I just kept it, and I'm glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised, it was really good. I would definitely order it again. The drinks from the bar were on the strong side, which I prefer. One of the ladies in our group thought her drink was too strong. It was a berry Moscow mule cocktail variation and the bartender was more than happy to add some extra ginger ale which seemed to do the trick for our friend. As the ladies talked, us guys went to play a couple rounds of pool. When we got back the ladies had ordered more apps and we had more drinks and most importantly we all had a good time. We all left about an hour later with full belly's, a good buzz and a smile on our faces. We're definitely going back and next time we might even bowl! The vibe inside is fun but relaxed & not quiet. They get brownie points for not having that usual bowling alley smell, you know that... hundreds of used sweated in shoes, mixed with mediocre cleaning standards & spilled beer soaked into the carpets smell? This place was clean & so were the bathrooms. I definitely...
Read morei haven't been to Hi-tor in a long time but i decided to go bowling with some friends on a Saturday night. i went on their website & saw that they have moonlight bowling 9:30pm to 1am. They supposedly turn down the lights, have glow in the dark lanes & have a dj who plays music, sounded cool. Well i was in for a surprise because not only did they not turn down the lights & have glow in the dark lanes but there was no dj( there was music tho so i guess i can't complain). Another big issue was that at 11 i was told by the employees working that night that they were trying to close. i preceded to show them on my phone where it says they have moonlight bowling but they knew nothing about that. i was told the website is outdated & i can't go by that( keep in mind i did call ahead to inquire about this & to reserve a lane) not to mention the tv screens kept saying midnight bowling. doesn't that mean your open past midnight for people to bowl?. They did allow us to finish our game though which lasted til midnight & the staff was very nice which is why i gave 4 stars. Besides the misinformation on the website everyone was really nice & we did have...
Read moreMy family and I visited on a Sunday in September in honor of my late Aunt's birthday. Prior to arriving we called to be certain that outdoor cupcakes were okay. Which wasn't a problem. However, the customer service left alot to be desired.
The trouble began after the kitchen staff/waiter refused to sell me an iced tea. He stated that the kitchen was closed, but that I could go to the bar for a drink. I was prepared to give him a tip for service, but decided otherwise after he serviced a man some 10 minute's AFTER he refused me. I went to the bar, but no one was there. I tried to get help from staff at the main entrance but to no end. Thankfully I had a water in the car.
During our last frame, the staff switched our lane without a valid reason and didn't provide us with enough time to complete our game! I mean there were only 3 of us left to play and they couldn't even accommodate us.
We noticed that we were the last group and it seemed that the staff just wanted to get out by any means necessary. We sang, "Happy Birthday" then left as they shut the lights...
