Vilma's Bakery — Restaurant in Town of Haverstraw

This place has HIGHLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. when I first walked in I was greeted by a nice girl, once she took my order down for my birthday cake (style of cake, picture of exact cake, dates, etc) it went down hill from there. Vilmas husband has a LACK OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND IS RUDE when speaking to customers. I first received a call from him saying I ordered a cake for a date that was not told to him nor did he go by what what was written down when I first came in to make the order. He proceeded to argue with me about the date I was supposed to pick the cake up and accused me of changing the date. I told him several times you guys have this information written down and he waited after the argument to go check and realized he is wrong and the exact date was written down. When it came time for me to pick my cake up it was not what the picture looked like and I told him, If I give you a picture of the exact cake I want with all the details there shouldn't be a different cake when I go to pick it up. If you couldn't make it at least inform the customer. Then he hands me a cake WITHOUT a top. When I ask for a top he tells me if you mess the cake up DON'T COME BACK HERE. This should be a place of business and you shouldn't be talking to customers like that for ANY reason especially when I'm paying you for your poor service. I don't care how good you think your pastries and cakes are, it will never be good unless there is great customer service that comes before it and you treating the customers nicely. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. And advice to Vilma, hire someone who can talk to customers nicely and is organized when dealing...

Update: Well, we've been here, though not when it's crowded, and we still mask up. It's good. I don't know if it deserves the raves I've seen elsewhere, but it's good. Nice selection of pastry and dependable coffee. We prefer it to other options in Haverstraw, mostly because it's as good as other food, it's really affordable, and it's been here longer.

Previous: We really, really wanted to go here. We're moving to the area next month, and we're looking for the place to get our regular bakery fix. But this morning, there were three people working and one customer, and no one was masked. I even asked them if they EVER masked, and they smiled and shook their heads "no", like that was going to encourage me to come in. WE were wearing masks. With the newest and most highly contagious strain of SARS-CoV2 just taking off, there is absolutely no way we're trusting people we don't even know not to get us sick, especially if none of their customers has to mask up. this people are no joke! they go beyond my expectations I always order my cakes here, I called them two days before for a cake I thought because of last minute order they were going to have trouble making the cake as I wanted and really didn’t expect much but I was also ok with it, since it was last minute but when I saw the cake I was surprised and amazed of their wonderful job decorating the cake the first picture is what I ask for without the liquor bottle and the second is what they made, the picture doesn’t even do it’s justice more beautiful in person, they save me I really wanted to have this for this special person and they made it happen.
