Decided to Uber Eats Ben's crab, thinking it was coming from Uniondale but it came from the Valley Stream location. Never been to this one before and quite frankly I'm doing away with the whole franchise.
I ordered two orders of the 1 pound snow crab legs that came with one corn and one potato. Both orders are requested garlic butter, one mild and one no spice. Received my order and only one order came with sauce in the bag and one order with the sauce on the side. Call to confirm which was which because they didn't label either one. I found that odd because why wouldn't you put both in the bag with the sauce?
I proceeded to crack open my five-year-old order, and the first two legs had no meat at all. I get to the third leg and noticed that the meat was sticking to the shell meaning it was overcooked. Authentic decide to open my bag, which didn't have the sauce and two legs were missing off the cluster. Then proceeded to crack open the first two legs and low,and behold one was missing meat and again the meat was sticking to the shell meaning it was overcooked. At this point, I'm livid and I called the restaurant. The woman that answered the phone tells me sometimes it's like that. When I go to sit down and eat my crab legs, I don't experience this. Waiting for an apology I didn't get one. I then asked for a manager and the manager tells me to contact Uber Eats for a refund. Still no apology or empathy. $60 for disappointment is crazy.
I definitely contacted Uber Eats and showed them pictures and received the refund. I just feel when it comes to takeout with Bens crab. You don't get the same quality of food as sitting down. I've washed my hands with all locations...
Read moreA Surprising Delight: 50th Birthday Party at Ben's Crab* I recently had the pleasure of attending a 50th birthday party at Ben's Crab, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! As an 80% vegetarian, I was a bit apprehensive, but the 20% non-veg side of me was excited to indulge in some French fries, chicken, and shrimp.
The party was themed around 50th Blue shades, and the ambiance was electric. Although the bar area was bustling, with no seats available, the reasonable prices of cocktails and mouth-watering bites made it well worth the wait.
What truly impressed me was the owner, Jason's, warm hospitality. He took the time to personally meet and greet every guest, taking photos and ensuring everyone felt welcome. The staff was professional, attentive, and courteous.
Ben's Crab boasts spacious surroundings, making it an ideal spot for parties or dining out. While it may cater more to non-vegetarians and seafood enthusiasts, I appreciated the variety of options available.
Highlights:
Spacious and lively atmosphere Reasonable prices for cocktails and bites Owner's personal touch and warm hospitality Professional staff Perfect for parties or dining out
Suggestion for Improvement
To enhance the overall experience, I recommend that the management/owner consider implementing a system to clarify payment responsibilities upon entry. This would avoid any confusion and ensure a seamless experience for guests.
Recommendation: If you're a seafood lover or looking for a vibrant spot to celebrate a special occasion, Ben's Crab is definitely worth...
Read moreI went to eat at Ben’s Crab multiple times with my wife. As we been going we enjoyed the food multiple times in the past but now the place seems to be at a decline. In service and in food quality. My recent visit to Ben’s Crab was nothing short of a disappointment. I had high expectations for a place specializing in seafood boils, but the reality was far from satisfying. Firstly, the service was atrocious. The waiters seemed more focused on their tips than on providing a pleasant dining experience. Not only were they inattentive and slow, but they also outright demanded a tip of $10 or more. This level of rudeness and entitlement from the staff was unacceptable and soured the entire visit. When it came to the food, the Cajun boil sauce was a major letdown. It was watery and lacked any real flavor, failing to properly season the lobster. A good boil should be rich and bursting with spices, but this one was bland and unimpressive. To make matters worse, the mussels were not properly cleaned and still had feces in them. This level of negligence in food preparation is alarming and raises serious concerns about the restaurant’s hygiene standards. Overall, my experience at Ben’s Crab was far from enjoyable. Between the rude service, the lackluster sauce, and the unclean seafood, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Save your time and money and look for a better seafood dining...
