American Legion — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

The venue is just okay. The inside is clean, their set up with linen was fine, the chairs are comfortable and the staff was very helpful, pleasant and worked with us through the entire event. However we found the man who dealt with us, his personality to be abrasive, impatient and lacking qualities of acceptable customer service. The woman that shows the space with him is a lot more people friendly and accommodating to our questions.

Even though the area seems safe, the outside of the building needs sprucing up. Parking lot redone and building repainted. There is visible paint peeling and rusting. For the per person money charged, they should be able to get this done. After all the venue seems popular and is most likely booked every weekend. Also we knew to be finished by midnight as per the contract, however it felt like we were being rushed to finish even as early as 11:30pm. There were constant and unnecessary reminders from the security. It seems they wanted us out to set up for another event, which they literally pushed us out to do so. As we are clearing out they were setting up. And lastly, I observed that they didn’t mop the floor before setting up for the next event. Which I think is just unsanitary and unacceptable.
