Bongo Burrito — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Been here twice, and have a few things to say about both experiences. First time I went, I was given the wrong meal. I ordered a burrito with chicken and they gave me something else with steak and shrimp in it. Didn't think it was a big deal at the time. I understand restaurants are still struggling. During the second visit there were a few more issues. I went for lunch and got a vegetarian burrito. They waited 20min to tell me that they were missing one of the ingredients. Feel like I should've been told of the issue sooner. Wasn't even offered anything in compensation for the additional wait after that. On top of that, they messed up the bill and charged my friend twice. We got split checks and I had to Venmo the difference to him a week later. Other criticisms, food very expensive, and you can get more bang for your buck at other places. On a positive note, the waiter/waitress I had during both visits were very friendly, the drinks were good, and the atmosphere was nice. Recommendations: work on food quantity and maybe organization with the kitchen. I will think about giving it another shot 6-12 months from now when they had time...

Vibe of the place is really nice. They just opened up recently so I will revisit the place few months later when it’s more established.

My expectation from Mexican restaurant is always a good margarita and good tacos.

I ordered a skinny mezcal margarita. What I received was an equal parts of mezcal and triple sec, splash of rose’s lime directly into a glass unshaken. Bartender claimed this is how a margarita is made so I ordered a beer.

I suggest for management to give proper training to bartenders and loose the rose’s lime. It’s not so hard to squeeze an actual lime.

Another "Favorite" spot.. The food is absolutely amazing.. fried avocado, coconut shrimp, the Mac n cheese... all outstanding, and don't even get me started on the ribs!!! Falling off the bone and marinated in perfection !! Seriously!!! The drinks are great and atmosphere is so fun!! FROZEN COCONUT MOJITO is a must try !! I also had a chicken fajita bowl, (fajitaritto, but in a bowl instead of baritto, upon request).. Great spot to grab a drink and a bite to eat or go full force with a whole sit down dinner, eitherway, great time all around !! Definitely give it a try, you will not be...
