What an awesome time. Today we took the drive out to dang barbecue in Seaford. I have to say I will now add this to my top three places for brunch. It might be number one I don't know I guess I'm going to have to go back eight or nine more times till I figure it out. For more reviews like this check us out on Facebook @long island foodies
I found out brunch is served in both locations. they have a completely separate menu for brunch which I have taken pictures of and will post up in my review. Now let's get to the good stuff.
in preface to this I want to say that we have traveled from New York to Florida many times and one of the key things we always order is biscuits and gravy. I'm not saying I'm a huge connoisseur of great biscuits and gravy but I will say that this by far is one of my favorites. The gravy was so full of sausage it's not even funny. This alone would have been a meal. We ordered a side of biscuits and gravy and it was out of this world.
My meal I ordered the boss man's platter. The boss man's platter is enough food for three people. It comes with three eggs a full sausage a pile of ham breakfast potatoes bacon and the full order of biscuits and gravy. Had I finished reading the description of my breakfast I wouldn't have ordered the side of biscuits and gravy but I will tell you I'm so glad I did because now I have some for tomorrow morning period who am I kidding I'll probably eat it later tonight.
My wife ordered the hot honey chicken and waffles. A little bit of sweet a little bit of spice but oh so good. Of course I had to sample that and it was out of this world great.
Gabby had red white and blueberry pancakes. She was a little afraid that the blueberry was going to make the pancakes blue but you can tell Anthony used fresh blueberries and not that syrupy sweet stuff that a lot of places use. It came with fresh cut strawberries which my daughter ate half of them before I snapped the picture. The pancakes were light and fluffy and had a really great flavor.
Kenny had the children's portion of the chicken and waffles with hot sauce. He loves Anthony's hot sauce. I was thinking about going live from the table but to be honest with you it's such a great atmosphere we didn't even think about it .
We had a sangria and two cups of coffee. Their coffee is out of this world. it is a dark roast and I swear although they think I'm crazy it tasted like maple syrup period it was so good.
The server was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The restaurant is set up perfectly for this time. I felt so comfortable being there. We honestly can't...
Read moreThey have only been open for a month, so little things can be forgiven. My wife asked for no sauce on her chicken, and no cheese in her salad. Both came out wrong but were replaced right away by our waiter. Cameron. He was very apologetic about the mixup
I got the 2 meat platter with 4 ribs and brisket. They were both very good and full of flavor. The brisket was a nice thick cut, and the ribs were not skimpy.
As sides I had mac and cheese which was excellent, and the cole slaw which was good but a little to sweet.
The place is a converted diner in the heart of Seaford on Merrick Road. There is plenty of parking in the back.
Yes we will go back and try other items.
UPDATE: We went for lunch today, February 26, 2021. The food was really good, and the service by Racquel was awesome! My wife had tacos, and I had chicken and ribs. We took half of it home! Next time I'll try a burger.
UPDATE: We went for my birthday lunch today February 19, 2022 and had the family meal. OMG it was so much food! Mechelle our waitress was terrific. She even brought out a nice big piece of red velvet cake (my favorite) for my birthday. Cya again soon!
UPDATE: May 21, 2022. I like going for lunch because it's not busy. Amanda was friendly and attentive. I had the sliced brisket with mac & cheese and it was SO good. My friend had the full rack of ribs and didn't finish them, so that Sunday dinner!
UPDATE: March 18, 2023 Another great lunch! I had a cheeseburger and my daughter has pulled pork. Maureen was terrific and helped us celebrate my birthday! Thanks for the brownie and ice cream!
UPDATE: April 1, 2023 We went to dinner with friends on a busy Saturday night, the place was packed! Google screwed up our reservation, but they got us in pretty quickly. Dylan was our waiter, and he was great. He didn't rush us, and was very calm and efficient throughout our meal. We ordered the family meal which is SO much food. We took half of it home. Once again, a great...
Read moreIf the review was based on just the meats and brisket it would be a 4, maybe even 5 stars. Brisket is my "go to" to judge a bbq joint.
I always go into a restaurant with a 5 start to begin then I remove stars any time something falls short.
The reason for only two stars is as follows:
My waiter Dillon, had a really bad habit of going to the back of the restaurant and sitting with his back squarely facing the restaurant dining room as he chatted with the cute girls doing the mixing. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get his attention until he turned around when he felt like it. This was not isolated and it is apparently his habit.
I think that a BBQ joint should go hard on the quality of their sides as much as the meats. I remember my first visit and I think the Mac & Cheese was much better, maybe when you order it as a table size side they bake it in a skillet. The one that comes with the meal as a side is basic commercial cafeteria quality mac and cheese. slightly above a box mac & cheese. The creamed spinach is rather blaah not the decadent rich side dish that you would hope to get in a "comfort food' setting.
Brisket was very nice, moist, tender as it should be, sausages excellent, baby back ribs alright I prefer a bbq place that offers the full size ribs as a better test of skill.
The owner should take the sides up a notch and Dillon really needs to be brought in for a training talk. I will go back for the meats and insist the service meet my standard or the tip will do the...
