This place is very popular and serves some decent food so my review means nothing.
I have had Pastrami Express a handful of times since they opened. It used to be a phenomenal restaurant with good food, nice portions and reasonable prices. The most recent time I ordered from them honestly made me upset. $17 for a tiny ass sandwich that seemed to be a whole lot smaller since I have last ate here (I was still hungry afterwards, It was good but maybe if it actually was a meal it could be 17$). $8 for a what they said was a "pound" of soft most likely old pickles. The round knish must of been their own kitchen experiment I don't even know what to compare it to (but the regular knish was actually very good). Very Very Expensive place to take the family if you order anything more than the sandwiches (even just the sandwiches). I love all types of sandwiches and I really can be a human garbage disposal at times (I am not a picky eater) but my most recent visit left a bad taste in my mouth metaphorically and physically and it also put a whole in my wallet too. Very very nice staff, not too bad wait times, but there has to be some sort of change in ingredients, maybe they are trying to cut corners to save money, possibly different owners I do not know.
Overall I genuinely hope my most recent visit was a fluke I will most certainly be returning one day to try again because I used to really love this place they once served very good food at reasonable prices but for now I feal it is a disservice if I do not voice my concerns for the downfall of what once used to be I believe the real Pastrami King...
Read more🚨Update* I’ve been back 2x since my last review and the food is consistently delicious I took a friend with me and she loved it. Best pastrami on Long island it’s like butter melts in your mouth. French fries are out of this world, potato pancake with applesauce is a hit and the knish fried is just like the old days crunchy heaven. The Coleslaw is addicting🙆🏻♀️❤️The deli is right off of 135. It’s an hidden Gem! The Owner Abraham is a great person, very nice and friendly a true gentleman I enjoyed speaking with him. Jenny the server is a rock star! Best server! Check this place out! A+++++++++++++ be back soon, Paola
*I’ve been wanting to try this place for a very long time. Well I was in the area and today was the day! This place has the best pastrami on all of Long Island. I’ve tried them all and the others do not come close. The pastrami was like butter it melts in your mouth so delicious. I had a potato pancake also great flavorful with apple sauce it was recommended by our server Jenny who was so nice and so helpful, I felt like I was in my aunts kitchen. The staff/owners are so warm & welcoming. The Cole slaw was creamy homemade tasting. I highly recommend trying this cozy little place that puts out phenomenal kosher old school deli food and vibes. Fairly priced don’t listen to these people on here saying it’s over priced we were 2 plus a additional sandwich and knish to go and it was $62.00 not bad at all bens is much more money regularly with just us 2. A++++++++Will be back worth the trip from Huntington! A Picture doesn't...
Read moreWish I could give half stars because I think it's more of a 4.5. Small traditional Jewish style deli that is very easy to miss if you're not looking carefully for it. Came here for lunch during the week and went with their junior sandwich lunch special, 5oz of meat of your choice (I went with brisket, which comes warm and with a side of gravy if you choose) and a side of Nathan's style crispy fries and a drink for a decent price. I think this turns out to be a perfect portion for any meal, but Jewish delis do love to make their giant sandwiches too. Brisket is sliced thin and put on soft rye, very tasty. Sandwiches also get served with a small plate of coleslaw and a few pickles. Despite the small size, the place feels very comfortable, almost like having a meal at home. I wish I had got our waitress's name, she was the sweetest woman and made sure we were taken care of. Prices can seem just a touch expensive, but you get good quality and a healthy portion for your money. You can park on the street right in front, but I'd recommend the larger lot behind the building for convenience, there are entrances on both sides. Would gladly come back for more...
