Update:
Thank you to the owner for their thoughtful attempt at deflection.
While I appreciate the time taken to comb through all of my reviews instead of reflecting on valid customer feedback, I’d like to clarify a few things, since constructive criticism seems to have gotten lost in translation.
My review was honest, detailed, and quite gracious considering the experience. Waiting over an hour for subpar food that didn’t reflect the Caribbean or Chinese flavors advertised was disappointing. Let me reiterate that the fried rice and lo mein lacked the signature taste of Guyanese-Chinese cuisine, and both the General Tso’s and cha chi kai chicken were bland at best.
If the owner had indeed reviewed all of my restaurant feedback, they’d see that I’ve left positive reviews for actual Guyanese establishments that deliver authentic, flavorful food. So no, it’s not about a “misconception” or “comfort zone.” It’s about quality and consistency.
Rather than assuming customers “can’t be pleased,” it may be worth looking into the recurring themes in many of your reviews: long wait times, lackluster food, and overwhelmed service. (I’m clearly not alone.)
I sincerely hope the business takes this as an opportunity to grow and truly live up to its name, Flavor N Spice. Because right now, it’s giving Bland N Wait. …………..………………………………………………
My husband and I decided to step outside our comfort zone and try a new West Indian spot, but sadly, it didn’t live up to our expectations. After waiting over an hour for our meals, we were left disappointed.
We ordered the Guyanese-style chicken fried rice, lo-mein, cha chi kai chicken, and General Tso’s chicken. Unfortunately, the fried rice and lo-mein didn’t resemble authentic Guyanese-style Chinese cuisine, and the cha chi kai and General Tso’s chicken lacked flavor.
To be fair, everyone’s taste buds are different, so I encourage others to try it for themselves. However, for us, it’s a no. The long wait time was a significant deterrent, and the staff appeared overwhelmed and flustered by the influx of orders.
I hope the restaurant can address these issues and improve overall, as it’s always great to see new spots thrive in the community. For now, though, we’ll be sticking with more...
Read moreHey everyone, on March 21, 2025, I had the pleasure of catering a family funeral from this fantastic restaurant. The owner, Melanie, and her sister are incredibly kind and welcoming. Before placing my catering order, Melanie even invited me for a tasting session, which was a great opportunity to sample some of their delicious dishes.
Although I didn’t get to try everything I ordered, everything I did taste at the restaurant was fantastic. I provided samples of wontons, desserts, and other delectable items. The food arrived on time, even though it was almost 50 miles away from the restaurant. Melanie and her sister went above and beyond by providing transportation and friendly service when the food arrived at the funeral home.
Everyone at the funeral was thoroughly impressed with the food. They couldn’t stop raving about the flavors and tastes. I even called the restaurant to express my gratitude to Melanie, the owner, and her sister. I told them that everything was sold out, and all I had left were great compliments about the food.
I had ordered a variety of dishes, including fried rice, chow mein, fried chicken, and Chinese pork. Each dish was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable...
Read moreBreaks my heart to leave a bad review, because we want to support our West Indian restaurants in valley stream. But hope the criticism helps to improve the recipes . I travel to queens every other day for Guyanese West Indian food so I taste many different types of fried rice. But this has got to be the worst. I ordered a chicken fried rice and house special fried rice that only had shrimp btw. First off, u cannot use the stinky type of shrimp thats dry in your fried rice. You have to sauté it lightly then mix in so it stays moist. The shrimp was very dry.never ever had such a type of shrimp in my food. The chicken didn’t have flavor. The rice had mixed veggies , which throws off the taste . The rice for fried rice , was very bland . Honestly , the recipes or the chefs need to be changed. I also had the egg ball and it was also very bland with no taste . Not sure whom the owner is. But there needs to be a great change . Truly wanted to enjoy the food, very happy to have Guyanese West Indian restaurant out here, but can’t even enjoy it because the food is so bad . I’ve also had many bad reviews from others, but wanted to try for myself . Very unfortunate. Only good thing , was the very friendly and pleasant girl...
