Mia's — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I was very embarrassed on this past Saturday night December 1. I organized a group of people to go to dinner. I found that the table was too close to the table next to us and yet the rest of the restaurant was nicely spaced. I got there at 6:45 for a 7 o’clock reservation. We did not even see a menu till 10 to 8 . No water/no bread on the table. The food arrived appetizers 830 dinner at nine remember we were there from seven . No they forgot one of our orders and saw my friends had to wait for her dinner about another 20 minutes . Only two appetizers had been ordered and then the food took a long time to come out. my friends order was forgotten it didn’t come out till 20 minutes after that . One of my friends ordered the lobster ravioli with pesto sauce Is pesto sauce pink and where was the lobster he did eat it but was not happy my husband ordered the chicken masala masala sauce was on top of the vegetables and the chicken was tough and he returned it I found out later we wound up paying for it because it was not taken off the bill . Mostly I blame the manager who hung at the bar the entire evening . At one point i approached her at 10 to 8 to saying we did not even have bread she said oh here comes now and walked away from me . Unlike the last time I was there and the owner came around dressed nicely and wanted to know how our experience was going she did not once come around to make sure everything was going smoothly . Your place was busy it was Mayham . The waiter barked at us when we ask where our things were . We finally received our food about 20 after nine remember reservation was at seven. now coffee and dessert the waiter came out and gave us tiramisu for free did not even ask us what we wanted not one of my favorites three people ordered cappuccinos and got regular coffee I have never experienced such Mayhan and unprofessionalism in my life . Thank goodness the entertainment was terrific! I live up the block from this restaurant several of my friends said never been there before and live in Valley Stream I doubt if they will be back again . The table next-door we got friendly with those which is also the lodge group and they also had complaints and sent some of the food back . Yes it was crowded every table was full and in that case the manager should been around helping where she was needed if it was so busy that the Waiters couldn’t handle it instead of hanging out at the bar I was really really upset because I wanted my friends to have a good night . DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT* I used to order from this place several times a week take out. The food used to be good seems like within past few months the place has went completely down. Good is very VERY inconsistent. What you offer one day will be a completely different taste and look the next time you order it. ALSO if you order take out you never get a correct order for 4 weeks in a row i was missing one item from the dinner and since it's a outside deliver company when you call the restaurant thru don't help you at ALL.... I spoke to the owner and told him he's gonna lose a good customer to try and resolve it but he said" he don't care about losing customers" . In this covid time you would think the place would go out of its way to get your order rectified and the customer happy. NOT THIS PLACE!! SO YOURSELF A FAVOR DON'T SUPPORT THE PLACE SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE AND GET WHAT YOU ACTUALLY ORDER. I didn't think it was too much to ask but the place thought different. I've been to Mia's several times when I lived in Valley Stream. I'm so pleased to see their pleasant, professional service has not changed.

I stopped in here for a quick bite on my little tour of my village one Sunday evening. Staff was so accommodating. The men kept checking with me making sure everything was good. Cassandra the only woman on duty was my Server. She is a doll and took great care of me. What I noticed too was even some of their regular patrons, checked on me. Probably as they saw a woman alone? Who knows, either way it was appreciated.

I had drinks and seafood stuffed clams topped with bacon. There was a lot of bacon and I tasted that more than seafood.

But, If you ever come here, you MUST try their chicken lentil soup! Waaaay! It only had little bits of shredded chicken in my bowl but what it lacked in meat, it sure made up in taste! This is a really good soup and I'll have it anytime I'm here. Any season.

I'm really Happy Mia's of VS survived the covid years. Delighted that they can still hold their own, when it comes to good service and food. Solid 4.5 stars.
