Novi Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

This review needed an update since it’s now post pandemic and I frequent NOVI now on a monthly basis. I simply cannot get enough of their food. Here’s my detailed review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Private Celebration Done Right at Novi – Baldwin’s Gem

I visited Novi in Baldwin on June 11, 2025 for an early dinner and cocktail to privately celebrate a huge personal milestone—gaining tenure, teaching in the Special Education field. I couldn’t have picked a better place to mark the moment.

To start, I had a passion fruit martini crafted by bartender Melissa—smooth, refreshing, and the perfect celebratory sip.

The food was absolutely top-notch. I sampled a few favorites: • Veal Parmigiana – tender, crispy, and saucy in the best way. • Chicken Francese – light, lemony, and full of flavor. • Spaghetti Bolognese – rich and hearty with a classic meat sauce. • Spaghetti Aglio e Olio – simple, garlicky, and delicious.

The bread basket was hot, fresh, and full of flavor—especially the garlic knots, which were perfection. The addition of whipped butter was a really nice touch that elevated the whole start to the meal.

I was too full for dessert this time around, but from past visits I can say their sweets are absolutely mouthwatering—definitely worth saving room for.

The staff was welcoming and professional, the atmosphere was warm and relaxed, and the whole experience felt personal and memorable. Novi delivered on every level. I’ll be back again soon—with friends next time to share the celebration.

Last dined in pre pandemic. The food is simply delicious & mouth watering. Best vodka sauce I’ve ever had, best veal part in a grandma style red sauce, best chicken Marsala in a thick brown mushroom & Marsala sauce, best shrimp franchise & absolutely best seafood stuffed shrimp!!! Just some of my faves I loved to get at this beautiful Italian restaurant. Friendly & professional staff. Make reservations if a party of 4 or more dining after 5 pm. FYI, they deliver now! I def take advantage of this now!

I've lived in the Baldwin/Freeport area for 8 yrs and never heard about Novi until recently. At first glance, I would have driven pass this spot and must have for years because it blends in with the brick face of the other buildings on the block. Once I entered, I was met with a sports bar vibe and got confused as to why I was invited to celebrate here. I don't even drink. 😂

Once I found the hostess, she asked who I was picking up for, so I guess they are more used to take out more than dining in. I told her I wanted a table and was meeting a friend. She took me around a wall to the other side of the restaurant, that's when I saw why I was invited here.

The dining section was beautifully designed, layout, atmosphere and even the volume of music changed. People ate delicious looking food and drank and were merry. I sat and waited for my friend. I ordered their broccoli and chicken soup and cauliflower bites. After a couple bites I asked for a takeout box because this was too good to eat in one sitting. The portion sizes were generous and so was the flavor. I ordered a mocktail which was delectable. Unfortunately they ran out the ingredients for my drink so the next one ordered wasn't as tasty.

Everything we ordered was delicious and the wait staff quickly because family. She was attentive and went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of. Unfortunately my stuff pork was dry and over breaded but other than that, the food and service was wonderful. If I could take off a half a star I would but unfortunately that feature isn't allowed so 4 out of 5 stars is where this place sits in my book. I'm definitely going back and am excited to try more. The food was DELICIOUS! We ordered a variety of dishes via grubhub. The eggplant balls were amazing. Wished we had gotten 3 orders. We also had osso bucco, spinach white pizza, chicken bruschetta, eggplant quesadilla, chicken milan, tenders with fried and shrimp oreganato. One of our dishes were missing from a pretty large order and they called and sent their own staff to deliver. They sent free garlic rolls. We will order again and plan to go in person.
