Casita RD — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

The serviced ruined my friend's birthday. A group of 5 came to this restaurant for dinner at 7pm. It was not even busy at this time. We get seated by host. ok the waiter comes over. He gets our drink order then we are ready to order appetizers. We asked what's good. He said this platter that comes with a little bit of everything. Then he says your going to be full and you will not want to order an entree. We all looked at each other like what. So we waited 45 to 50 minutes. So we asked him where is our appetizer. He says its fresh that's why its taking so long. And we wait. We then adk for a manager. Waited for her , we told her what happened she apologized and went to the kitchen to see what happened. 5 minutes later iron came out. So then we tell her again with the waiter standing right next to her . He says I thought you wanted this for your dinner. At no point in time did we say that. So we let him know that we we live to order something else. Ok he comes over with complimentary shots of lemon jello. It lasted like lemonade. At no point in time did the manager come back to see how we where doing or asked if everything is OK. We had to wave him down to place our next order. We told him about the dessert its my friend's birthday and that took a while. Then the bill comes. Had charged us for the shots, and some extra stuff. Had to call manager again. Which i think she should have taken care of something extra off the bill. After we complained again she took 10% off. This was our first time here . Never again. It was an honor to celebrate such a personal milestone in their beautiful space, which already feels like home to us. We’ve partnered with them annually for Thanksgiving catering, and each time, they exceed expectations—but this dinner was truly next-level.

From the moment we arrived, my family and friends were raving about the hospitality, the elegant setup, the delicious drinks, and the flawless service. Massiel went above and beyond—curating thoughtful menus, providing beautiful linens, and ensuring that every special dietary request was honored.

As someone who is usually very anxious when planning events, it speaks volumes that I felt completely at ease. Massiel left me with no worries—I truly knew I was in good hands.

And Chef Papi—per usual—crafted the most amazing dishes, the kind worth traveling miles for. We’ve followed him through his culinary ventures for years, and will continue to do so because he is simply exceptional. Every dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly prepared, and most importantly—we received zero complaints. Just joy, smiles, and full plates.

I had the pleasure of dining at Casita RD for Father’s Day, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and vibrant atmosphere made us feel right at home. Our server, Bernice, was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu.

We started with drinks: an Old Fashioned and a cucumber cocktail, both expertly crafted and refreshing. For appetizers, we chose the chicken empanadas and the Sajoma sushi roll. The empanadas were perfectly crispy on the outside with a flavorful, juicy filling, and the Sajoma sushi roll was a delightful fusion, combining traditional sushi elements with Dominican flair.

Our entrees were equally impressive. We had the chicken mofongo, which was a hearty and satisfying dish with tender chicken and perfectly mashed plantains. We also enjoyed the Dominican pizza, a unique and delicious twist on a classic, topped with flavorful ingredients that perfectly balanced each bite. My daughter loved her pechurina, which was crispy, tender, and seasoned to perfection.

To cap off an amazing meal, we indulged in the chocolate lava cake for dessert. It was decadently rich with a gooey, molten center that was the perfect sweet ending to our meal.

Overall, Casita RD provided an outstanding dining experience with excellent food and top-notch service. Bernice and the entire staff made our Father’s Day celebration special. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for authentic and delicious...
