Tried out 3 local delis for their potato salad. Otto's came out on top. I don't know much about their other foods, but I'll be back purchasing pounds of their potato salad. It's sliced thin, using a slicer, the potatoes soak up all the juices from the salad thus providing no dry spots in the taste. It's not pasty at all. Very hard to find authentic German style potato salad. The only other place which is under new management killed thier authentic recipe (Lake Grove deli out in Suffolk) caused me to drive around tasting different delis. Otto's is my new go too.

Just went to get a sandwich and specifically asked the person to Please Please Please slice EVERYTHING SUPER THIN—-SHRED IT PLEASE! I could tell right away he wasn’t listening and didn’t write anything down—he gave me “PRE” sliced stale Swiss that was 1/8th of an inch thick! You could cut for a salad not a sandwich ! I had to throw it out. 2 out of last 3 sandwiches the bread was stale. I hope the “new” “old” Otto’s on Park Ave opens real soon!! 🙏🙏🙏

Excellent just egg ketchup on a great tasting whole wheat roll. I love this place ,they take your order and ask your name and they call you by name and even talk to you by calling by name I think it’s great idea really pleasant atmosphere

Ottos has lost all the "old school" deli charm. They nickel and dime you for every ingredient. They have taken total advantage of "inflation". I understand there is inflation... then there is gouging... I've been a loyal customer for almost 20 years. The other day I got lunch for my family of 4. $80 for 4 sandwiches , 4 drinks, 4 chips and half gallon of milk. 2 years ago that was a $40 ish bill. I had a reciept printed.. It was $7.80 for the sandwich... then charged $2 for the hero bread! whats the sandwich? The cold cut? Itemized tomato... Itemize lettuce? Cheese was added extra. 2 bucks for the bread? Isnt that what makes a sandwich a sandwich. $2.59 for a small bag of chips. Charged for a credit card. I used to go to Ottos 3 or 4 times a week.. I love the food, and still do... but now I go once a month.. Ottos Im truly not interested in your reasons why... In 2 years you have gone up almost 100%. I know inflation is historical... But you have added on top of that...You took a hometown old school deli... and you got greedy. You will still make your profits .. Im only 1 customer. I knew when you took over how this would play out... There use to be a John Thiessen jug for donations.... you replaced it with a tip jar! That in itself sent a message. Milk us for more! Enjoy my $80 a month instead of my $500 a month. ...

I grew up going to Otto's deli in the 70's and 80's. The best roast beef I ever ate along with, in my opinion, the best potato salad on long Island. I moved out of the area and have not been there since they relocated from the original location on Park Avenue about 5 or 6 years ago. Yesterday I stopped by to get a roast beef hero and potato salad to bring home. The place was clean and the workers were friendly but I knew it was not the same Otto’s. The roast beef in the deli window did not look like Otto’s house made roast beef that I remember. There were political references posted on the walls which is never a good idea and is very, very unusual for the Otto’s. I got home and unwrapped my hero and was so disappointed that it was not the great Otto’s roast beef but the standard, tasteless pre-made roast beef and to make it worst there was only about 3 slices of roast beef on the bread. All I could taste was bread and mayonnaise (see photo). The potato salad was not Otto’s potato salad as it did not taste and it was labeled with the name of...

Otto's has been a neighborhood staple for decades. After their recent move I was sad because the way the place was in the old house was one of the things that made it have that old school deli vibe about it.. their new location is updated but managed to keep that vibe alive.

Otto's make just about the best damn sandwhich you could ask for. Each sandwhich or salad is masterfully crafted with love by a professional. Their potato salad both regular and German are the best on the island. Glad to see thing long running, old time wantagh staple is still...
