I really had high hopes for the Patrizia's chain. I am so disappointed in my experience at both their Massapequa and Hicksville location. I used to work in the restaurant industry so I can appreciate the struggle of running a successful restaurant. I did my best to be understanding of the current times but simply put, the cons of my experience were inexcusable. I know it's a long review but I highly suggest reading it before booking your next event here.
My boyfriend and I arrived yesterday evening pretty early. This location was also tightly packed together. I regret not taking photos to prove my point. We obviously came here with the intention of using the gift card and trying to be optimistic about our experience. Our waiter was nice in the beginning but that soon took a turn. We asked for recommendations and upon his recommendation we ordered baked clams and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. The mozzarella sticks were OK but the baked clams were genuinely disgusting. Truthfully, I'm very picky about my shellfish but even my boyfriend who never complains about food was disgusted by them. We decided not to complain because we simply wanted to use our gift card and get out of there as quickly as possible. For our entrees we ordered chicken Parm and penne à la Vodka. How could you mess that up, right? First of all we paid 23 dollars for one piece of chicken that tasted like Chuck E. Cheese pizza. The penne alla vodka was like nothing I've ever experienced. I know every restaurant and every recipe has their own little twist on Penny Alla vodka but this was literally disgusting. It was creamy and not in a good way. It lacked any sort of flavor and we couldn't wait to get rid of it. When the waiter came to take our plates don't you think it would be smart to ask why we didn't want to package it up when 3/4 of the serving was left? Our bill total came to just over $84 which was perfect because we wanted to use our gift card completely. I've worked at several restaurants myself and I have never once heard of the restaurant not excepting a gift card as "gratuity". If we were to leave the $100 gift card that would leave the waiter with exactly a 20% tip. We confirmed with him if we could do this and he literally rolled his eyes at us! He said he would have to ask and came back practically threw the card at us and said we're not allowed to do that. I handed him my credit card to let him know I wanted to split it that way we could leave a tip on the credit card. We usually carry cash on us but tonight we forgot. We even asked him if there was an ATM because like I said, we wanted to use the gift card and just go. His response was to huff and puff as if we asked him to donate a kidney. We just wanted to tip him! He then took the credit card and just charged the whole thing on credit. At this point my boyfriend was pretty livid and I was so frustrated. I cannot believe I wasted more money at this establishment and the lack of compassion from the waiter was atrocious.
The food was absolutely horrible, the service is terrible, and management doesn't seem to give a hoot. I now still have a $100 gift card that I never wanna use there or even give away because the place should be so ashamed of themselves. I really am so disappointed in my experience at those locations. At this point I feel like it's my duty to let anyone know who wants to book a party here to reconsider especially during...
Read morePlease think twice before booking your party at Patrizia’s of Long Island in Hicksville. The restaurant manager Tony was quick to blame his female staff members (who were not available to defend themselves) for booking our party incorrectly.
Our party was booked months in advance & we were told we could have a section of the new party room. We were also given a separate menu to chose the food. A month before the party, we met with the restaurant manager, Tony, to confirm the food and notify we had a guest who was gluten free. The original menu we were given was taken out of our hands and we were being told he had no idea why his female staff member told us these things. He then forced the regular restaurant menu with the higher prices on us, promising us everything would be great.
Fast forward a month later to the day of our party & everthing started out okay with the exception of our food being rushed out to us. Then I noticed a large party lining up outside of the restaurant. As soon as I saw this we were being pushed out. We had booked & paid for our table from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. I looked at my watch & it was just turning to 3pm when I noticed the waiters were cleaning our table clothes off and rushing my guests out. Tony was rushing to get our billed paid up too. One of my guests was asked to get up because the waiter wanted to clean the table. As this was happening they started seating this large party before we even had the chance to leave.
We brought in our own specialty cupcakes as thank you’s to our guests and not only was the wait staff helping themselves to them, I saw Tony sneaking one himself. They were not given permission to take any especially since not all of our guests were given the opportunity to take one. A waiter was confronted for taking one and they said they were told they could take a one.
What I realized, we were knowingly pushed out of the private room because a larger part booked after us. Another similar size party was booked for 3pm & they intentionally pushed us out before our time was done. There were other large tables available to be taken, why push us out? Obviously, the larger the party, the more important you are to Tony.
When we confronted Tony, he again blamed his female staff members (who again were no where to be found) for the mismanagement of our party… how convenient. Last I checked you are the manger and you are responsible for your staff.
By the way my gluten free guest had a significant reaction because her “gluten free pasta” was clearly not prepared safely for her, despite being told they could accommodate her. If you can’t safely prepare the food just don’t...
Read moreMy wife and I took our daughter and her fiancé to Patrizia’s this evening for dinner. They were very busy. But they did not have someone to greet guests as they came in. We waited about 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. That was only because I walked in front of someone who was a manager. And then he asked if he could help us. We were seated within 2 minutes. Our waitress GABRIELLA gave us our menus within a minute of us being seated. She had a bubbly cheerful greeting for us. We ordered and received most of our appetizers in a reasonable time but my future son in law waited almost an hour for his chicken wings. we waited almost 40 minutes after we finished our appetizers for our entrees. GABRIELLA came over to us several times to apologize and we could tell she was being sincere. I complained to another manager. His response with a negative tone was “well didn’t you get your appetizers?” Within seconds his attitude changed and few minutes later my wife and daughter received their entrees, I waited like 10 minutes, I went to the manager and asked for the rest of our entrees Again within minutes our entrees were delivered. Two of our entrees came with salads. I had to ask for our salads. I got my salad when I was half way finished with my entree. The food was hot, fresh and delicious.
We shouldn’t have to wait as long as we did for our food. They had several large parties in the restaurant. It appeared the managerial staff cared more about the parties then they did the small groups of 2-6 people.
We asked for our check and Gabriella offered to buy us dessert because she felt bad on how long we waited. We were not planning on having dessert, but we still would not have taken her up on her offer if we did want dessert. Gabriella gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
But because of poor service my review of the restaurant gets two stars.
Also the restaurant was way to crowded to enjoy a meal. Wait staff had barely enough room to squeeze in between tables.
I just read a review from 5 months ago. Had the same basic complaint as me. Patrizia’s responded by “we will improve” it’s obvious you didn’t.
We came here last year and had the same basic complaint of waiting.
We went to Patrizia’s in Maspeth 3x. (We just moved to LEVITTOWN from Queens last year) and they were always super packed but we always had excellent service , even up on...
