First & foremost be PATIENT & it most definitely IS worth the drive & or wait!!! Everything is made with t.l.c. & is fresh (the wait). It is a small place so my recommendation is study the menu online or in the car. Know what you want before walking in or order online. Only 2.5 employees including the owner Randy. Believe me he does run out of food it's that good & tasty! Now this is ONLY my second visit, first was the Super Bowl, NO food was left that day lol.
The food: on my first visit Randy let me sample his collard greens, we were having a conversation about being scared trying peoples food which was what exactly ran through my mind while he offered me a sample of greens. Now from jump I'm NOT a fan of collard greens period, point, stop! The sample was kind hefty however I licked the sample cup. When I say flavor fam I mean flavor especially for greens with no meat in them. My order was the brisket platter, with double mac & cheese. The brisket was juicy with flavor without any sauce. When I found my sauce it was the cherry on top. Nice tang with a lil kick not heat just flavor. The mac & cheese is yummy & on point. Today my second visit got there around 2pm ish, 2 customers in front of me. I sat down knowing what I wanted after studying the menu, today is turkey day especially after feeling that earthquake earlier today. My order 2 turkey đ legs, 2 turkey wings, lrg mac & cheese & jerk chicken platter 2 sides, plantains & mac & cheese & corn đ˝. If you like meat falling of the bone this is THE SPOT! I was able to pull the bones out the wings leaving no bones to be sucked on ( I still did though). Plantains were on point mac & cheese never fails. The jerk was bursting with flavor not as spicy as I'd like yet still yummy delicious. Finally I was about to get into my đ˝ corn to my surprise to get a sample Flintstone baby rib instead of my forgotten đ˝ corn. The surprise was well worth the lack of corn. My first bite exploded with smokey moist beef rib flavor that hit the spot only if he added some sauce on the side however I'm grateful either way. I wasn't able to try the turkey legs because I was full however just by looking at the size of these bad boys I know they will be tasty & yummy. As soon as we ordered, he got to cooking and making sure that he had our orders right. We had two orders of the 1/2lb brisket with 2 sides and banana pudding. The brisket is flavorful, juicy, and tender as can be. The sweet potato fries are made fresh to order, he fried them right in front of us and it was not lacking in sweet potato flavor and just the right crunch and crispiness. The mac and cheese is hands down one of the best weâve ever had. The mac salad perfectly al dente, well dressed, and evenly coated. The corn bread is not overly buttery but neither dry, and surprisingly rich in vanilla flavor which was a rather lovely surprise. The banana pudding is as accurately titled, a no frills and thrills banana pudding; extremely strong in its banana flavor as it rightfully should be and the fluffy wafer cookies were able to soak up and balance out the moist pudding, along with the dollop of whip cream being a nice sweet touch. Overall, the food was highly enjoyable and ownerâs attitude was affable. Theyâve all around earned themselves happily returning customers and we will be looking forward to many more palatable meals!
Unfortunately, we have no photos of our meals as we had gotten a bit too excited from our first order due to its mouth watering smoked smells and had gotten half way through it before swiftly deciding we had to make a turn back around to put in our second order and chowing down almost immediately as well.    Read moreBEWARE! I NEVER leave reviews, I had to warn new customers what to expect because $35 for two meals of low quality processed food is a rip off! We couldnât eat ians it ended up in the garbage. To start the front kitchen is worn down and dingy. I shouldâve walked out and requested a refund the second i saw this but trusted the great reviews I read on this place and continued. I ordered pickup for the first time tonight. Waited 30 mins for my order and arrived during the pick up window. When I walked in my order wasnât ready and I was told one of the items (smoked turkey) i ordered they had no more of. I was not made aware of this prior to my arrival! I had to pick something else off the menu whilst at the store and had to wait until my new order was ready. What I witnessed confirms why I never try new places! The potato salad is processed, it came out of a huge commercial white plastic tub, my fries were sitting on the drip rack cold. The replacement BBQ chicken came from the back and bottled sauce was slathered on this chicken and put to heat up in front of me. My original order was $5 more so they added an extra drumstick! Baked beans are made with same sauce as chicken and processed .Corn bread is an airy cardboard texture, my 9 year old noticed how bad it was. Nothing is freshly made. The website is deceiving and so are the reviews! How are people giving this place 5 stars?! I can not see this place...
