Home of the 250 different cheesecakes, and counting. As a matter of fact, if you can come up with your own cheesecake concoction...let them know!
On this episode of Dining in The Southern Tier we took a stroll down College Ave. I - wanting someplace different and finding myself wanting to support local businesses more and more, stopped into Ma's Cheesy Dreams & Other Things.
The fare consists of hotdogs (qtr. lb. at that) with a myriad of accompaniments to dress your dog to your liking, along with burgers and other flattop grill style meals. I went with the meat sauce mustard and onions, and a side of fries. Everything is cooked to order. The fries taste fresh cut and are reminiscent of a fair or carnival type cut and taste.
My wife got the chopped cheese special and really enjoyed the burger being chopped as opposed to cut-in-half like other establishments. The atmosphere is airy, as they have likely just opened. Subtle decorations adorn the walls and windows with opportunities to add more as the business flourishes. There's seating for about 3 families/groups and a couple of quaint locations for the single or couple diners.
All-in-all a great experience and I give it 4 stars in atmosphere, customer service. A couple of minor details regarding my meal choice for today:
The hotdog could have, and well, should have, stayed on the grill a bit longer. A much more intense sear to get that "pop" from the exterior could have been achieved on that first bite, had the dog cooked a bit longer. The meatsauce had the all too familiar flavors of traditional meat sauce. Unfortunately, a little more salt to the seasoning could have tied the seasonings altogether. It came across a little bland.
Do consider this location for your next hamburger or hotdog hankering. And of course, cheesecakes...

Arrived at 650pm with Google Maps indicating establishment closed at 7pm.
Neon sign indicated "OPEN" Posted hours indicated closes at 7p. Door was locked. Someone else called the establishment and an unhappy person came to the door. I'll leave out the details.
I'm visiting from out of state; went out of my way to try this place (pick up something sweet to go) based on the positive reviews. Disappointing "experience"
Suggestion to owners: if you want to close at 645, close at 645. But at least have the courtesy to update your hours on Google. Prospective patrons count on them to be accurate.
In Response to Owner Reply:
Google Hours update real time.
Turn off the neon OPEN sign when you're closed.
A new sign in the door window with summer hours (til 630p) would be helpful.
I was driving, following an address from Google Maps that indicated closing at 7pm. Unlike half the rest of the drivers in the country, I'm not checking Facebook at the same time!
I would only call if there was something specific I wanted, which there was not.
My comments intended for the purpose of improving the experience for those new customers wanting to give this business a try; there are easy ways the owner can ensure my disappointing experience does not...

The $8 10in cheesecake crepe w strawberries - not sure if it's true to the size, as far all together I have no complaints. I ate it well.
The $3.60 each cupcakes (banana and one w cherries) were a little disappointing, no frosting and on a smaller side. There's a place in corning I purchased cupcakes from for about the same price that were done beautifully.
The $8 grilled cheese combo - advertised as homemade texas toast with chips and tomato soup, the soup was the size of a ranch dip container. Please make that clear to customers so they're aware. I get that the cost all together for the combo wasnt all that high...still without proper picture and description people dont know what they're expecting when they think they're getting a good deal.
This was off a...
