WOW, the Dix Hills Diner is back baby! For Long Time residents, everyone remembers the Dix Hills Diner of the glory days. It was the best diner in the area, the only one equaling it was the Candlelight Diner in Commack (I'm going back to the 80s for this). But everyone knew that as other Diners rose, the Dix Hills Diner fell. Perhaps it was the large smoking area they set up when you could first smoke inside, but separate? Perhaps it is because they have never, ever re-developed the outside and it looks stale? Recently however, we went to the beautiful On Parade Diner in Woodbury/Syosset near Southwoods Road and the food and service were awful so there goes the idea of going to a place because it looks good. Then we went to the gross looking Golden Coach on Jericho by Oakwood Avenue (which my wife had said was nicknamed the Golden Roach), but we were surprised and the food was amazing! The inside was even nice too. Why all these diners? My sister just moved to Huntington and has a two month old, so she isn't cooking and we are bringing in food a lot. So back to the Dix Hills Diner: We thought why not, lets just try it, because it was the most convenient and we had been avoiding it. Turns out, it was the best diner around!! The service was impeccable, the cost was within reason, portions huge and the menu is the most extensive I've ever seen. The food was out of this world! We also went to the Broadway Diner in Hicksville after seeing a movie at the Broadway mall and even though I only had a Cobb Salad, it was really very good, in spite of the fact that they served iceburg lettuce. I didn't mind, but my friend was horrified. The top prize goes to the Dix Hills Diner. They redesigned the inside, it is gorgeous, check out the Website and you will be blown away. Then, just go - or don't, the parking lot is still small in comparison to newly built diners (which tend to go away pretty quickly). Look at Rte. 110, there are no more Diners, how...

Read moreWe had a large crowd after a funeral and burial at this diner on Tuesday. The place was not too busy for a one o'clock lunch crowd. My cousin likes this place and now I do too. It was my first time here and for some reason I thought they were out of business. If you drive by quickly, like I have done many times, then you may get the same impression. Caveat: Don't pull in quickly, like some moron in a BMW did, beeping his horn for us to rush into the parking lot. There are speed bumps as you enter.
(We were there Tuesday and my Uncle scolded you like a child. My other Uncle who was driving is eighty-four years and very careful and considerate unlike yourself. It was a new car because a similar moron t-boned him in Huntington the week before. Maybe it should have been you instead that was t-boned. God allows such things to happen. Just saying. Shame on you. Ah, now you remember us!)
Oh yes, I am doing a review of the Diner! Sorry, where was I? Oh yeah..the food and service is top notch. Their beautiful rest rooms are like Occonee Diner's on Route 111 at Montauk Highway. The same design may be found at each place. I hear you...who cares? Well, I like nice, clean rest rooms. If yours is dirty, then you get a bad grade. Dix Hills Diner has both good food and a rest room you absolutely must visit. Okay, I'm done. I've written too much...
