Do not waste your time!! 3/11/25 came in to purchase custom cookies. They were only available via special order. I ordered 3 and paid. I was promised they would be ready after 6:00 next day 3/12. Went tonight to pick them up. Walked in 4 kids were working. Gave them my name then waited approx 10 minutes. All disappeared to the back. Then one comes out I said are the cookies ready. She stated they are looking for your order. More time goes by nothing from nobody. Stood there like an idiot. Another girl was taking an order for a custom cake (I wished them good luck) and I told her if someone doesn’t give me my money back in 5 minutes I’m calling the cops. More time goes on. Then 2 young kids come from the back. 1 supposedly a manager (lol) had no answer as to why the cookies weren’t ready. All the kids clearly could care less about the issue. They need to be educated on how to treat customers and the impact it has. The cookies were for a birthday gift. Meant a lot to me , but not to them. As she began processing the refund which she didn’t even know how to do it She had to ask another kid while rolling her eyes as though I’m at fault. The other kid had a smirk on her face as if this was some type of joke. Then being a kid put a big smile on her face. I have come into this bakery often. Many of my friends come because I gave nice words, and this is how you treat customers? How do you have kids running a business ? Why wasn’t I called to be told they are unable to fill my order prior to getting there? Explain why I had to waste my time for 2 nights to just be laughed at, disrespected, and disappointed? Remember there are many bakeries around. Myself and friends will no longer come to Dortoni’s. Perhaps 3 cookies were not worth it to you. Humble yourselves , not only did you loose myself and all my friends as a customer . You also lost a possible corporate business agreement where my company would have purchased from you for all...
Read moreI will not be going to Dortoni again, sadly. I ordered a cake for my daughters birthday and sent a Dortoni cake featured on their website as inspo. The cake I received looked similar, but was missing the premium elements you expect from a custom bakery cake, like hand cut letters/fondant elements.
Instead, these elements were printed, not sized correct to the cake, applied with multiple bubbles under the fondant, and looked overall low budg compared to the premium price they charged me of $150 dollars.
I made the mistake if quickly glancing at the cake and saying OK in store becuase I was rushing to get ready for my daughters birthday. Upon further inspection, I was truly upset at the quality of the product, so I called, pressed the button for a manager but was met with someone who was not a manager. They did not loop me in with the manager and I was met with truly intense snark on their end. I was shocked at the lack of empathy or customer service. Having Dortoni staff make me cry was not on my bingo card.
As someone who loved Dortoni when I lived in Port Jeff and was excited to see a Huntington location when I moved to this area, I will no longer be giving the Dortoni family my patrionage and I will also let my friends in the area know to expect a high price, low quality products, and customer service...
Read moreWent in for the first time to grab a fresh loaf of bread and decided to go with the French baguette. It was excellent - crispy on the outside, actually had taste, and the perfect consistency on the inside. I have to reiterate - that crisp in the outside !!! While I didn’t try any of their baked goods, there was a large assortment including cakes, pies, cookies and more. The young ladies behind the counter were lovely and friendly and even when presented with a customer who was quite rude and nasty, they continued to handle themselves in a professional manner. The woman ordered something and called it by a very unfamiliar name (something referencing a rainbow cannoli) , and the girls were perplexed and stated they did not have that item. When the patron pointed out the item in the showcase, the server gently remarked “oh the rainbow cookie slice”. The woman continued on very rudely, stating she’s “ordered the item for the last 15 years and it’s their signature item”. The servers continued on with a smile and completed the transaction. Touché ladies - for such young staff they impressed me with how they handled the situation. Will be going back to try the...
