Zaros Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Huntington

I walked in to order one Chicken Souvlaki Sandwich at 12;30pm on Thursday afternoon. I waited a few minutes for the previous customer to put in her order. When it was my turn the phone rang. There were two men (doing the cooking) and one woman doing the order taking and waitressing the dining area. She asked me to wait. I did. In the middle of that phone conversation (which I assumed was an order) the phone rang again as they must have more than one active line. She asked her current caller to hold and took the second caller. She took their order. Then took the first caller's order. She began taking my order when the phone rang again. She took that caller's order before finishing taking my order. I waited patiently as I understand that someone has to answer the calls. She finally got back to me and completed my order and told me to have a seat to wait. I'm a people watcher so I sat off to the side on a table and watched. A few people came and went to pick up orders that were called in or ordered online. Two couples came into the dining area, and placed their orders with the person taking orders. 25 minutes went by and I began to notice that the two couples who came in well after me who were eating in had already received their orders. I approached the counter and asked when my sandwich would be ready as there were several people in after me who were giving their food. Her response to me was given in a very condescending tone was "You should have called ahead, like these other people." I said that I watched as the people who came in to "Dine in" after me did not call in and they ordered thier meal well after I did...15 minutes after I placed my simple sandwich order. She became extremely NASTY with me and told me to sit down and she'll call me when my food was ready. I watched her be nasty with a Grub Hub delivery guy and another customer while waiting. Ten minutes later I received the sandwich which I couldn't eat because I ran out of time for lunch. I took the sandwich home and reheated and ate it. The sandwich was okay reheated. The way they treat their customers in that place is unreal!!! Their food is good but because their customer service is so bad I won't be going back even if a can "call...

OK I give up on this place permanently now. I was a loyal customer since moving out here in 2011. I used to enjoy the friendly decorated dining room, the food was great, the staff were so nice and welcoming. Well now I am DONE. Over the past year the prices have become offensively high, the food has massively declined, and almost all the nice people are gone. (Sorry to the son, I did see you tonight, but your presence didn't override the attitude of the woman.) The facts: My gyro was as light as a feather and wasn't even cooked all the way. There were just a few pale thin slivers of meat. The tomatoes were pale. For that and fries I paid $20?? I wasn't born yesterday, guys. It's hard not to feel offended. Also still hungry. There was the Thursday night "special" but I didn't ask for that because I'm only one person, and instead of two gyros I just wanted some fries. $20??? And when I went to the counter to pay, and tried to ask if the price was different for credit cards, the woman cut me off and talked over me, answering some other question I had not asked. Zaros Cafe is the best Greek food hands down in the town of Huntington. Fresh. Clean. Very polite and respectful owners. The quality of the meat is amazing. Do yourself a favor get double meat. Double gyro meat. My go to staple here is the the Greek salad with double meat! Amazing fresh and colorful salad. Packed with banana peppers, tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese, stuffed grape leaves, red olives with your choice of meat. YUM! Homemade tzatziki sauce that is to die for.
