I stayed here for one day during a family visit in late May 2015, although I'd planned to stay for a week. The experience was so horrible I moved to another motel.
I grew up nearby, and we frequently ate here when it was a Howard Johnson's restaurant and motel. By 2002, it had turned into the motel it is now, though I think it had different management. That year, all my extended family stayed here when they visited for my father's funeral, and reported a great experience at the motel. It's one of the few inexpensive motels in the area, but unfortunately there's a reason for that.
I had also stayed here for a couple days around 2007, a room on the second floor, which was modest, but not objectionable. The only bad experience during that visit was when the cleaning help started trying to forcibly open the chained door while I was sleeping despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door.
My mother had arranged a week long reservation in 2015, and had gotten a quote from the owners for the visit. My cross country flight had been delayed and didn't connect, so I was exhausted when I arrived. The room was fairly nice, although a bit mildewy, and it had a big jacuzzi in the bathroom which seemed like it would be a plus, though there was such a strong musk smell in the bathroom that should have been nice, but seemed a bit nauseating.
As I was showering, late morning after arriving, the owner or manager started pounding on my door to tell me check out was soon. I said we'd reserved for a week, and he informed me the price would go up substantially that day if I wanted to stay longer. They weren't honoring the price they'd given for the reservation. I was furious at the interruption and change of terms. So was my mom. We had a big argument with the (Indian?) owner or manager, and an elderly man who seemed to live there butted in and told us they were nice people and we shouldn't talk to them that way. Nice people who lie and don't honor their contracts, we should point out.
The brief stay was horrific, and we certainly won't stay there again or allow our relatives to. Too bad, too, since I had fond memories of the location from childhood. I relocated to the Whitman Motor Lodge, and discovered a much better place to stay, at...
Read moreThe room wasn’t in the best shape, the wall in the room was damaged and the beds were being held up by wooden blocks. The wall in the bathroom had water stains on it and no place to hold toilet paper. The shower was massive and took up much of the space in the bathroom. Speaking of the shower, while it was not an issue for me, be wary of staying here as the shower could be challenging to get into if you have any physical constraints at all. In addition, the floor of the shower was a bit gross. Not all of the outlets in the room worked properly so I had to try a couple to charge both my computer and my phone. Outside of the room, the hallways smelled like cleaning product so strongly I had to avoid breathing until I made it outside and the door inside had to security to get in so anybody can just walk inside. The beds come with few pillows on them and when I asked for two more for my girlfriend and I, after hours of requesting them only one arrived to the room. While waiting I heard the front desk person tell a guest checking in that they only allow two adults per room and there is a strict no visitors policy and had him sign a paper acknowledging it. On top of this weird policy, my girlfriend and I were not informed of it, nor did we need to sign this paper, so I’m left wondering what prompts them informing some people and not others about this policy unless they are deciding based on prejudices. Finally, the door locked and I made it through my stay, so I can’t give the place just one star, but I definitely won’t be coming back.
EDIT* In addition to this, after my girlfriend and I both left reviews of this location, our places of work (which are hours away) received negative reviews from two reviewers. Strangely, most of their reviews are from Long Island (again, we are hours away from any location on Long Island), and best of all, their first ever reviews are for this hotel, which are five stars. While this does not affect me much (my place of work has roughly 2,000 reviews, and to be frank, I don't own it), it is amazing to me that rather than listen to the reviews and work on their problems, they instead choose to spend that time trying to...
Read moreMe and my man spent a night here was thinking about coming back I like the location and lay out of the motel . Has LOTS of potential and needs some elbow grease . Room carpet needs professional clean , they do have smoking rooms so that is great for me personally. Our Tv worked fine , Ac definitely worked but the covers on the bed are paper thin so bring extra comforter if you get cold easily.
No complementary breakfast so that really sucks , and the room are a nice size , so was our bed . Mattress could be better but not the worst , the room has a beautiful size jacuzzi, a great size but the jets don’t work , and the tub was terribly stained , I thought it were just dirty I cleaned it but the stains weren’t scrubbable . If the steam and jets worked it is a beautiful space with a huge shower head and light over the jacuzzi with sliding door . No liquid soap here at this motel no shampoo or toothpaste bring your own .
Hallway carpet needs replacing.
Overall if you want a night or two here it’s ok ,not the Hilton or four seasons but if you’re looking to save a bit or you don’t want to spend to much because you’re cheap or poor this is your place , bring your bleach and Ajax , overall the wash rags and towels were white and are useable. Bathroom dark and dingiest part of the room , hate the lighting in there and no blow dryer . P.s. yea I seen they have roaches in their bathroom,I passed them and went to pee then back to sleep . Bring raid for the night if you don’t like them ., I didn’t see any inside of the actual room ,they have decency not to come out in daylight so I appreciated that . Anyway 3/5 for the room ,I’m not bougie but I wish you guys upgrade the jacuzzi and change the rugs ,I’ll be a customer for a while , not much of a view from my room but next time I will want face the rodeway or highway...
