Southdown Deli — Restaurant in Town of Huntington

This place has decent food; I went there today because it was next to the gas station I had stopped at but I won't be back. There was a sign on the door (in Spanish AND English) saying "please only two customers at a time". It is a crowded store where a 6 foot distance from other customers is almost impossible. However when I looked inside there were at least ten customers at the counter, most of whom were not wearing masks, and the employee behind the counter was doing nothing to enforce the signs on the door. When I tried waiting outside for some people to leave before I entered a bunch of people just went in ahead of me, disregarding the signs, and again the employee did not so much as ask them to wait outside. Poor health practices in the time of a global pandemic do not reflect a well on a business, especially if that business is selling food. Every other business in Huntington is taking this seriously and as an essential employee who cares for vulnerable individuals, I'd rather patronize...

Absolutely delicious! Who knew that this tiny deli/bodega packs such a punch! I went in to pick up breakfast after a medical appointment and was pleasantly surprised to see that plantains, two kinds of beans, chayote, a squash stew and pupusas were on offer, in addition to bacon, potatoes, and scrambled eggs (with tomatoes) on the steam table. I had the squash (stewed with onions and tomatoes), eggs, pupusa, and plantains and it was the best breakfast I've had in a WHILE. The cook was wonderfully restrained with the salt, which made my meal far more satisfying than the food at a lot of other delis.

The price was right too, and the shop itself was spotless, all while observing COVID safety precautions.

Please try this place! It deserves to become a Halesite...

Went in to get two ham and eggs on a roll and one bagel with cream cheese and jelly, a large coffee and a small hot chocolate.. I gave my card and they told me it was around $22 dollars, but they took advantage without me even realizing and overly charged me, since I was busy working on the road, I couldn’t check what exactly the amount they took from me. I woke up today and checked my bank account and saw I was overly charged for $95.20…. This deli is a scam!!!! don’t...
