I never had any prior knowledge to Acting or the process before I joined this program back in 2017, only with the deep seeded passion of wanting to pursue it as a career, but having no idea how to get started. When I first met Rick, I knew immediately it was the right fit. He has a great intellect for what he has accumulated over his experience in Theater and carries it throughout any 8 week program that you can attend.
Patience is one of his greatest strengths, such as working with a fellow Actor or Actress that is either inexperienced or has been in the Industry for decades, he can guide anyone through the teachings and techniques of the craft with confidence. Sense Memory, which is one of the tools you will receive from Rick, is the bread and butter for approaching your emotional pool that will excel you in any Acting work. Rick has a very helpful sensibility when it comes to collaborating on a script or play in the class. If stumped with questions about Character Analysis, Sense Memory, Improv, Rick is available to guide you into the right direction. His class is also has a very relaxed atmosphere, allowing a freedom of expression without judgement. It is a great place to meet like minded individuals who are hungry to create and want to express themselves. Whatever it is that you are working on artistically (a play, film scene, monologue, commercial, song, etc.), it is accepted with open arms, but also given constructive criticism, which is especially necessary for growth.
Throughout the last couple of years, I have taken the time to apply these techniques and exercises for my own personal work throughout Film Projects and I can definitely say that they have supported me immensely. The American Art Theatre Actors Workshop is a great opportunity for any person who wants to expand their abilities...
Read moreRick Imberman is a very special acting teacher.
Having studied acting with some pretty good pros in New York and LA, I was skeptical about finding a quality teacher on Long Island. So, when I first joined Rick’s class about 4 years ago, I was a bit wary. I now put Rick right up there at the top.
It turns out Rick was steeped in NY theater and has worked with some incredible talent along the way.
And he takes all that experience to every single class. He is an excellent listener and great judge of what’s working or not working in a scene. He is also patient, caring, and knows how to gently lead each actor to bring out the best in themselves.
I have been a professional comedian and an actor with credits that include Everybody Loves Raymond, as well as a Funny Fake Expert for corporate events.
I can honestly say that even with all my years of performing, Rick’s classes have helped me sharpen my skills and stay on top of my game as a comedian and actor.
I recently shot a small role in a new Ray Romano film and Rick’s training really kicked in before and during the shoot. I was actually able to relax and even enjoy myself on set, knowing that I was hitting my marks and then...

Walking into Rick's class with absolutely no acting background, my first day was filled with nerves as I had no idea what to expect. However, right from the beginning, Rick cultivates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, allowing everyone in the class to ease into the course.
The methodology taught in the class might occasionally call for moments of self-reflection to understand why and when you might struggle with your character. Yet, if you place your trust in the process and remain open-minded throughout the experience, you can emerge from this class with a revitalized sense of self.
Personally, I left this course with not only a newfound appreciation for the dedication required in acting but also a deeper understanding of myself that I'm forever grateful for.
If you're wavering on the decision to enroll in this course, I urge you to take the leap – I promise you...
