Sweet Mama's — Restaurant in Town of Huntington

I hadn’t been here in a while as my last few experiences were less than spectacular, but figured I’d give it another shot…

Got a table, gave our order – waiter wasn’t particularly enthusiastic, but no attitude or anything. When the food came out my girlfriend had ordered egg whites, but that isn’t what she got. When she mentioned it, the waiter just kinda stood there and said “ohhh, ahhhh…” And that was it – didn’t offer to rectify the issue by remaking the order – just stood there looking at us. It wasn’t THAT big of a deal and we were hungry, so we just dealt with it.

For me, my order was correct, but it wasn’t anywhere close to being hot – cold (over easy) eggs, cold semi-stale pancakes. It was edible, but I couldn’t even spread the butter on my pancakes… Unfortunately the waiter never came back to ask how everything was.

When I went up to play the bill, and the hostess asked how everything was, I specifically said “it was OK…” I figured if they actually cared what the customer thought they would ask why it was just OK and not great, or good even. But she didn’t seem to care, just stared at me blankly, took my money and I went on my way.

That being said, unless I hear from a close friend how awesome their food was, or how nice the wait staff is, I probably won’t be going back...

Not my momma's. I must start off by saying that I used to love this place but after a few sub par visits we gave it another try and have to say this was the worst meal I've had in a long time. I think breakfast may be a better choice but we came in for some comfort food and were quite disappointed. The salad was fine but totally over dressed and was not edibal. The fried chicken was good in that it was really crispy but the skin underneath was fatty and must have been fried too many times because the bones were brittle. Forget about the veggies... Steamed to mush and unseasoned. The roasted turkey was moist but the brown canned gravy killed it. Same mush veggies.. Same dried mash potatoes. The last dish was a side of Mac and cheese but this too was a disappointment. It was fine if it was Kraft from a box but was made with water and no seasoning. One star for sentimental reasons and another for super friendly staff. Last note... bathroom could...

Just came from this restaurant, very cute pretty atmosphere, and comfortable however, my server was terrible. Diane did not introduce herself until about 10-15 minutes after, and others around us noticed as well. No apology while coming to the table, did not even introduce herself, Diane's approach to our table was, "have you decided yet?", waited an hour for the food to arrive to our table with no apology. How Rude. Absolutely upset, no apology, spoke to the manager or whoever he was and he apologized to what I felt was insincere! Didn't ask what had happened like I just can not believe this! I've worked at restaurants and currently still do as a server never in a million years would I have ever conducted myself the way Diane did. We received a freebie but I honestly will never return!
