“My two cents about the worst restaurant service experience of my life (by a Huntington native and TK’s Galley regular)”
Everything was normal at first - me and my lovely girlfriend came in around 10:30 am and we were greeted and seated at a table. At this point, there were about 5 of the 10+ tables occupied by patrons. We ordered and got our food rather quickly (which is not a problem at all). After about 20 minutes of enjoying our meals and finishing our coffee, our waitress presented us with the bill and said, “thanks guys whenever you are ready”. We then sat and chatted for another 10 minutes as the restaurant began to fill up.
This is when our experience began to head south in a SIGNIFICANT fashion.
Our waitress comes to our table and picks up our bill and moves it closer to me to sort on ‘hint’ that they wanted us to leave. This ticked me off a bit as you can imagine.
We sat and chatted for another 5 minutes and ANOTHER wait staff employee (not our original waitress) came to our table and said, “hey guys if you don’t mind, we are trying to ‘expedite’ the process here and get the people who are waiting in”.
At this point, about 30 minutes have passed since we walked in the door, which is not a long time for a sit down meal. My girlfriend and I were somewhat disgusted with our experience and I started getting angry about THE WORST SERVICE THAT I HAVE EVER RECEIVED IN MY LIFE AS A PAYING CUSTOMER.
I put down 40 dollars in cash for a 27 dollar bill and waitress has the balls to ask me if I needed change. I laughed smugly and said yes.
I took my change and gladly left two pennies for a tip as a metaphor for my ‘two cents’ story that I would be sharing with the world later that evening.
We got up to leave and as we were walking to the door, our waitress (who apparently has an unlimited amount of gall) , firmly states that ‘gratuity was not included in the bill’, in which I responded, “you rudely kicked us out of your restaurant” to which she responded, “thanks guys have a nice day”.
I have been coming to TK’s for years and I have never been treated this way, but I will NEVER return.
This is a message to TK - please consider hiring service workers who respect the patrons of your establishment, or you will probably not be able to operate for much longer. They are singlehandedly ruining the house that...
Read moreThe food and service were acceptable, but nothing amazing. What is completely unacceptable is the restaurant's business practices. They want a cash tip, which is fine, but even for a party of 2, they decide to put a 22% tip automatically. Fine, I usually tip 20% anyway, but I don't feel good about it being decided for me. Then, they proceed to charge the tip on the credit card directly for some reason. Not only that, there is an undisclosed 4% credit card fee. When asked about it, the waitress told me it was disclosed on the menu, which she offered to let me see. After asking to see it, they could not produce it and said that I could talk to the owner.
The owner tells me that everyone charges this fee. That's just simply not true, and in the cases that it is, it would be disclosed up front. The owner also told me that the charge on the card doesn't include the tip, even though it was clearly marked on the receipt. Then told me if I didn't like it, I don't have to go back there. If you want to be petty over a $1.50 fee, I can play that game too. Rest assured, even if you paid me, I would not come back.
They eventually returned my tip, but for pulling that, they get nothing. All over an illegally charged fee that was their fault in the...
Read moreGreat place. My first time here and I got the Rueben. It was warm and delicious! It came with a side of coleslaw and pickle. I ordered a side of fries too. I was so full from the healthy portion of the Rueben we took some home.
Great salad options and seafood. Good seafood soup options as well. It was a little too hot today. The lobster bisque is calling me back.
Our waitress was superb. She helped with a high chair and building blocks for our little one. I'm sorry I didn't get her name, she was so pleasant. We will absolutely be back for more!
Looking forward to trying the GF cake and salmon salad. Oh and the...
